MAT RATS TOP CLASS A TEAMS

1. ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY FALCONS


The Falcons continue to have a great season with a pair of big wins over Section 5A rivals Kimball 37-22 and Osakis 68-6. The Falcons had an outstanding showing at the West Central South Conference Tourney with 240 points and thirteen wrestlers placing in the top five. Tyler Berghuis, Hayden Rouser, Matt Lee and Larry Bomstad all won championships and Matt Meyer, Dylan Nelson and James Nelson all earned second place. Micheal Kramer, Logan Peterson, Lucas Damm and Ryan Larson all earned third place. Matthew Whitcomb earned fourth place and Robert Rassmussen took fifth place. The Falcons topped the No. 4AA ranked Foley Falcons for the West Central Conference Dual Meet Championship 31-29, minus one of their top starters. The Falcons went 3-0 at the Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted Quadrangular with a big win over Section 5A rival Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 54-12, Section 5AA foe Rockford 49-28 and Section 2A foe Medford 58-12. Hayden Rouser was 3-0 at the quad and he also won his 150th Career match. Matt Lee, Larry Bomstad, Ryan Larson and Lucas Damm were all 3-0 at the quad. Larry and Ryan both won their 75th career match at the Howard Lake quad. The Falcons completed the regular season with an excellent performance as they scored 250.5 points and had thirteen place winners to earn the championship at the Albany "Purple Pride" Tourney. Matt Lee, Ryan Larson, Matt Meyer, Micheal Kramer, James Nelson, Logan Peterson and Tyler Berghuis all won championships. Hayden Rouser and Matthew Whitcomb both earned second place and Lucas Damm, Lee Whitcomb and Jordan Fester all earned third place and Robert Rassmussen took fifth place. Ryan Larson won a milestone 100th career match at the Albany tourney.

2. KIMBALL CUBS


The Cubs topped Section 5A rivals Eden Valley-Watkins 49-19, Osakis 47-18, Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 58-12 and Long Prairie/Grey Eagle 82-0. They did drop a huge Section 5A dual to rival Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 37-22. They had a great showing as they bounced back from their ACGC defeat by topping the field of teams at the Fergus Falls "Isaiah "Pudge" Anderson Memorial" Duals with three big wins over AAA Bemidji 63-14, No. 11AA ranked Thief River Falls 47-26 and AA Lean and Mean Little Falls 42-35 to earn the championship. Quinten Berres, Mitch McKee, Tyler Kuechle, Jordan Joseph, David Josheph and Alex Thurber all were 3-0 at the "Anderson" duals.

3. KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS

The Fighting Saints earned third place at the Camden Conference tourney with 169 points and nine place winners in the top four. Jordan Engler, Jordan Rothers, Aaron Doraska and Trevor Mahlum all won championships and Klinton VanHeuveln and Jessie Engler both earned second place. Kyle Baker and Casey Krieger earned third place and Myrvan Halleland earned fourth place. They topped three foes including Section 3A rivals Yellow Medicine East 56-18 and Benson 45-21 as well as Section 3AA rival Montevideo 43-20. They had three open weights because of wrestlers either being sick or hurt. The Fighting Saints earned second place at the Alexandria "Big Ole" Tourney with 178 points and eleven placing in the top five. Klinton VanHeuveln, Jordan Rothers and Jordan Engler all won championships and Myrvan Halleland and Casey Krieger both earned second place. Trevor Mahlum, Kyle Baker and Aaron Doraska all earned third place, Jesse Engler and Adam Doraska earned fourth place and Nick Meyer took fifth place. The Fighting Saints topped the field of nine teams at the Morris tourney with 263 points and fourteen placing in the top five. Klinton VanHeuveln, Jordan Rothers, Aaron Doraska, Myrvan Halleland, Casey Krieger, Kyle Baker and Cody Peters all won championships. Jessie Engler and Jordan Engler both earned second place and Austin Rothers and Trevor Muhlum both earned third place. Isaac Froehlich earned fourth place and Adam Doraska and Jared Krieger both took fifth place.

4. BORDER WEST BUCCANEERS

The Buccaneers topped Section 6A rival Parkers Prairie 78-6 and Sisseton, SD 63-12. The Buccaneers topped three Section 5A foes at the Browerville/Eagle Valley "Bronco" Duals, topping Holdingford 53-15, Browervile/Eagle Valley 72-9 and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 53-14. Cameron Sykora, Mitch Andrews, Gus McCarthy, Will McCarthy, Taylor McCalip, Nick Stafford, Wylie Pullis and Nick Kleindl were all 3-0 at the "Bronco" duals. The Buccaneers toped three foes at the Milbank, SD quadrangular with wins over the host Milbank 54-15, Groton, SD 62-9 and Ortonville 72-0. The topped two Section 6A rivals Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 64-11 and Breckenridge 63-12.


5. BOLD WARRIORS WARRIORS

The Warriors are battling thru the injury and flu bug; they dropped a pair of duals to Section 3A rival Minneota 40-23 and to AAA Lean and Mean Willmar 43-27. They earned fourth place at the West Central South Conference tourney with 137 points and nine wrestlers placing in the top five. Brady Zitzman, Jake Revier, Zach Revier and Brent O'Halloran all earned second place and Ricky Morales, Logan Erickson and Andrew Brooks all earned third place. Alex Steffel earned fourth place and Blaine Minkel took fifth place. The Warriors dropped a duals to Section 6AA and No. 9AA ranked New London-Spicer 58-13 and Section 3AA power No. 5AA ranked Wabasso/Red Rock Central 46-12.


6. PAYNESVILLE BULLDOG

The Bulldogs topped West Central Conference rival Melrose/Sauk Centre 55-15 and they dropped a dual to rival and West Central Conference foe New London-Spicer 45-21. They had a great tourney showing with 156.5 points and twelve placing in the top five to earn third place at the West Central South tourney. Trevor Spanier and Matt Doom both won championships and Cole Woehler and Jon Solum both earned third place. Jacob Mages and Clay Spanier both earned fourth place and Dominick Platow, Anthony Johnson, Josh Hiepler, Aaron Gehrke, Caleb Burris and Kody Klein all took fifth place. The Bulldogs topped Section 5A rivals Eden Valley-Watkins 41-27 and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 45-18 and Section 6A rival Parkers Prairie 80-0.

7. PIERZ PIONEERS

The Pioneers topped AA Lean and Mean Staples-Motley 43-21. The Pioneers had a great showing despite missing two of their starters with 179.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top seven in the sixteen team field of teams at the South St. Paul "Pete Veldman" Invitational. Clint Poster won their only championship and Sean Huls and Brady Meyer earned second place. Nathan Tomala and Brandon Sullivan both earned third place and Brett Brausen, Alex Julich and Dustin Waytashek all earned fourth place. Mitch Poser, Kolten Eischens and Ryley Smude earned fifth place and Travis Johnson took seventh place. The Pioneers topped two Central Minnesota Conference rivals Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 56-24 and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 45-16. The Pioneers dropped a dual Central Minnesota Conference rival Holdingford 33-28. The Pioneers topped Section 7A rival Aitkin 46-21.

8. MIILE LACS RAIDERS

The Raiders topped Section 7A rival Royalton 37-26. They had a great showing with 194.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top five in this twelve team field of teams and earned second place at the Grand Rapids "Skip Nalan" tourney. Cody Whitney and Zach Olson won championships and Mark Francour and Tyler Knudson both earned second place. Luke Thompson, Nic Borchert, Bradley Brown and Antonio Griffin all earned third place. Nate Bresnahan, Matthew Petty and Chase Niesen all earned fourth place and Gabe Tramm took fifth place. The Raiders earned second place at the Rogers "Royal Rumble" Duals with huge wins over AAA Mound-Westonka 63-6 and Section 3A rival MACCRAY/Renville County West 53-21 before dropping the championship to Class A Lean and Mean Holdingford 32-30. Cody Whitney, Zach Olson, Bradley Brown and Nate Bresnahan were all 3-0 at the Rumble. The Raiders close their regular season with 243.5 points and fourteen place winners to earn second place in the Great River Conference Tournament. Zack Olson, Chase Niesen, Mark Francour, Bradley Brown and Cody Whitney all won championships and Ryan Jones, Gabe Tramm, Nik Borchert, Antonio Griffin and Luke Thompson all earned second place. Tyler Kundson and Matthew Petty both earned third place and Dain Schultz earned fourth place and Andy Sammis took fifth place.

9. WADENA-DEER CREEK WOLVERINES

The Wolverines topped Mid-State Conference rivals Park Rapids 39-27 and Detroit Lakes 39-28. They had a strong showing at the Mid-State Conference Tourney with 174 points to earn second place. Jared Wegscheid, Jacob Wegscheid, Tony Reurink all won championships and Zach Bernu and Derrick Rude both earned second place. Jordan Rentz, Sam Waln and Isaac Lustilla all earned third place and Josh Lawson and Jacob Ladovissie both earned fourth place. The Wolverines had a very good showing at the Alexandria "Big Ole" Tourney with 130 points and eight place winners to earn fourth place. Isaac Lustila won their only championship and Jared Wegscheid and Tony Reurink both earned second place. Jacob Wegscheid and Derrick Rude both earned third place and Sam Waln earned fourth place along with Zach Bernu taking fifth place. They were missing a couple of their starters at the "Big Ole"; thus may have done much better in the team standings. The Wolverines closed out their regular season with a big win over Section 6A rival Barnesville 35-28.

10. OTTERTAIL CENTRAL BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs topped a pair of Park Region Conference foes Browerville-Eagle Valley 53-19 and United North Central 63-9 to win the Park Region Conference Dual meet championship with a perfect 6-0 mark. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on the first dual meet championship in school history. The Bulldogs had a great performance as they earned 190.5 points and had eleven wrestlers place in the top five to win the Park Region Conference tourney for the first time in school history. Zach Johnson, Zach Matthys, Allen Peyerl and Tyler Olson all won championships and Brendan Hart earned second place. Greg Blum, Anthony Hinson and Charles Johnson all earned third place, earning fourth place were Dylan Schleske and Aaron Bengston and Nolan Koch took fifth place. The Bulldogs completed their regular season with a big win over Section 6A rival Breckenridge 47-24.

11. AITKIN GOBBLERS


The Gobblers topped Great River Conference foe Hinckley-Finlayson/PIne City 49-19. They had a great tourney showing at the Grand Rapids "Skip Nalan" Tourney with 175.5 points and eleven wrestlers placing in the top five in this twelve team field of teams. Jordan Chouanard won their only championship and he also won his 100th Career match. Dalton Stevens and Cooper Blau both earned second place and Adam Jackson, Isaac Novak and Shawn Phillips all earned third place. Jared Novak earned fourth place and Colton LaPlante, Noah Landrus, Kevin Handt and Kane Magness all took fifth place. They were short a couple of starters in this huge field of teams event. The Gobblers topped Lean and Mean Holdingford 45-27 and dropped duals to Section 7A rivals Royalton 33-30 and Pierz 46-21. The Gobblers dropped a dual to Section 8AAA Lean and Mean Brainerd 40-24. The Gobblers earned 262 points and had fourteen place winners to pull off a major upset over Section 7A power Mille Lacs for the Great River Conference Tourney championship. Jordan Chouanard, Copper Blau, Kevin Handt, Kane Magness, Adam Jackson, Jerod Novak, Andrew Bast and Colton LaPlante all won championships. Mike Stafford and Brian Wold both earned second place and Isaac Novak and Aaron Benson both earned third place and Tanner Bare and Alan Bast both earned fourth place.

12. HOLDINGFORD HUSKERS

The Huskers topped Central Minnesota Conference rival Pierz 33-28 and they dropped two duals to Section 7A rivals Aitkin 45-27 and Royalton 40-16. The Huskers had a great tourney with three big dual meet wins over foes at the Rogers "Royal Rumble" as they defeated Minnehaha Academy 63-18, St. Paul Johnson 45-16 and in the championship they defeated Class A Lean and Mean Mille Lacs 32-30. Zach Scott, Tyler Schwartz, Mike Jarnot and Victor Lumley were all 3-0 at the Rogers Rumble. The Huskers topped Section 6AA rival Sartell 46-27 and they dropped a dual to AA Lean and Mean Fergus Falls 40-26.

EDEN VALLEY-WATKINS EAGLES

The Eagles topped section 5A and Central Minnesota Conference rival Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 34-27 and they lost to a Section 5A and Conference rival Kimball 49-19. They topped three of Section 5A rivals Osakis 48-29, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 60-21 and Minnewaska 48-16. They dropped a dual to Section 5A rival Paynesville 41-27.

NEW YORK MILLS EAGLES

The Eagles topped Park Region Conference rivals Pequot Lakes/Pine River/Backus 40-17, United North Central 45-11 and Browerville/Eagle Valley 59-15. The Eagles lost a very close match to Section 6A rival Wadena-Deer Creek 36-30. They had a very good showing at the Park Region Conference tourney with 174 points and ten place winners to earn second place. Tommy Selander, Shane Novak and Tyler Patron all won championships and Peter Stark, Noah Pesola both earned second place. Seth Hofland, Max Carlson and Michael Meyer all earned third place and Ty Bell and Tyler Ehnert both took fifth place.

ROYALTON ROYALS

The Royals have been struggling with injuries and sickness as of late, but they have their wrestlers back as indicated by a great performance in their triangular where they topped Section 7A rival Aitkin 33-30 and Central Minnesota Conference foe Holdingford 40-16. The Royals earned 151.5 points and ten place winners to earned fourth place at the Park Region Conference invitational. Mitch Lange and Andrew Plumski both won championships and Andy Poster and Kellen Franks both earned second place. Kyle Wentland, Eli Wunderlich and Brian Schlicting all earned third place and Tom Averill, Mike Schmidt and Cory Wensmann all earned fourth place. The Royals went 3-0 in their quadrangular with huge wins over Section 7A rival Ogilvie 63-12, Section 5A rival Osakis 48-18 and AA foe Albany 46-27. Andy Poster, Mitch Lange, Tony Gadacz, Andrew Plumski and Brian Schlicting were all 3-0 at the quadrangular.

MAT RATS TOP CLASS AA TEAMS

1. FOLEY FALCONS

The Falcons topped a pair of Section 6AA foes Sartell 75-0 and Albany 67-6 and Section 7AAA power Elk River 50-9. They had a very impressive showing at the West Central North Conference tourney with 256 points and fourteen placing in the top four. Tristan Manderfeld, Keith Thell, Mitch Dunlap, Will Sustercich, Sam Keeler and Taylor Lewandowski all won championships. Taylor Rothfork, Chevy Gobel, Tyler Bemboom, Tony Kipka and Sam Olson all earned second place. Nick Lefebvre earned third place and Dylan Holly and Cameron Svila both earned fourth place. The Falcons dropped the West Central Conference Dual Meet Championship to No. 2A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 31-29. They were without the services of three of their starters due to sickness. The Falcons had a good tournament at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights" duals where they went 3-1 with big wins over No. 10AAA Prior Lake 58-21, AAA Wayzata 45-17 and No. 10A Kenyon-Wanamingo 56-16. They dropped their match to No. 3AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 30-21. Taylor Lewandowski was 4-0,Sam Keeler 3-0, Tony Kipka 3-1, Trtistan Manderfeld 3-1 and Taylor Rothfork was 3-1 at the Knight duals.

2. MONTICELLO MAGIC

The Magic topped a field of sixteen teams with 231.5 points and eleven placing in the top seven at the South St. Paul "Pete Veldman" Invitational. Tyler Mergen, Sebastian Gardner, Eric Bourgeois, Ryan Michaelis and Joe Jude all won championships. Logan Draack and Nic Grimley both earned second place and Jake Schmitz and Jake berthiaume both earned third place. Seth Gradner earned sixth place and Carter Barnes took seventh place. The Magic won the Lakeville North "Panther" Duals with three wins; in the quarterfinals they topped AAA Lakeville North 54-21 and in the semifinals they topped AAA Osseo 63-6 and in the championship they topped AA Lean and Mean Plainview-Elgin-Millville 46-13. Nic Grimley, Ryan Michaelis, Sebastian Gardner, Tyler Mergen, Logan Draack, Eric Bourgious, Jake Schmitz and Zach Beaumaster were all 3-0 at the Panther duals. The Magic topped Mississippi 8 and Section 5AA rival Zimmerman 68-3. They completed their regular season with an outstanding performance with 285 points and fourteen place winners to win the Mound-Westonka Haglund/Leopold Memorial tourney. Tyler Mergen, Sebastian Gardner, Ryan Michaelis, Logan Draack, Jake Schmitz, Joe Jude, Nic Grimley and Eric Bourgeois all won championships. Jake Berthiaume, Carter Barnes and Seth Gardner all earned second place, Mark Hickman and Zach Beaumaster all earned third place and Logan Stiller took fifth place.

3. NEW LONDON-SPICER WILDCATS

The Wildcats topped West Central Conference rivals Paynesville 45-21 and BOLD 58-13. They had a very good performance at the West Central North Conference tourney with 200 points and fourteen placing in the top five. Shawn Hatlestad won their only championship and Ben Henle, Chase Austvold, Dylan Hanson, Tanner Tobkin and Zach Borka all earned second place. Logan Brink, Jakob Stageberg, Cameron Ssteffen and Kyle Cappelen all earned third place and Austin Holden and Boone Winkler earned fourth place and Jarret Hatlestad took fifth place. The Wildcats earned second place at the Anoka "Tornado" Duals with their quarterfinal win over AAA St. Francis and a mild upset over No. 5AAA ranked Cambridge-Isanti 39-34, before dropping to championship to No. 2AAA ranked Hastings 51-9. Treyton Austvold, Shawn Hatlestad and Zach Borka were all 3-0 at the Tornado duals. The Wildcats had a huge Section 6AA win over AA Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple Lake 37-23.

4. MILACA WOLVES


The Wolves had a very good tourney showing with 180.5 points and ten placing in the top five to earn third place at the West Central North Conference Tourney. Jonah Gahm, Justin Ladehoff, Joe Hemmerich and Travis Bertram all won championships and Joey Curtis and Joe Moscho both earned second place. Jake Earl and Jordan Ahner both earned third place and Clyde Patnode earned fourth place and C. J. Rahm took fifth place. They topped a pair of Section 7AA rivals Chisago Lakes 53-9 in a very impressive performance and Cloquet 76-0. West Central North Conference foe Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 73-3. The Wolves earned second place at the Blaine "Bengal" Duals with wins in the quarterfinals over Blaine 73--0 and in the Semifinals No. 11AAA ranked Elk River 46-14. They dropped a very close dual to No. 8AAA ranked Coon Rapids 36-28. Joe Mascho, Clyde Patnode, C. J. Rahm and Joe Hemmesch were all 3-0 at the Bengal duals. The Wolves completed their regular season dropping a dual to No. 3AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 47-9.

5. FERGUS FALLS OTTERS

The Otters topped defending Section 8AAA champions and Central Lakes Conference rivals St. Cloud Apollo 38-25 and Alexandria 52-16. The Otters dropped a dual to Section 8AA rival Detroit Lakes 39-27. They went 2-1 at the Fergus Falls "Isaiah "Pudge" Anderson Memorial" Duals with big wins over Wahpeton, ND 48-29 and Dassel Cokato 55-24. They did drop a big dual to Section 8AA rival Thief River Falls 45-25. They were without a couple of their starters thru out the past couple of weeks. Marlo Bell, Myrone Bell, Abbot Aho, Matt Laugen and Bryant Marquedant were all 3-0 at the duals. The Otters topped Central Lakes Conference foe Sartell 38-24 and Section 5A foe Holdingford 40-26. They completed their regular season with a pair of very tough losses to Section 8AA rivals and AA Lean and Mean teams Staples Motley 36-28 and to Perham 46-22.

6. ANNANDALE-MAPLE LAKE LIGHTNING

The Lightning topped Wright County Conference rival Hutchinson 41-25. They went 2-1 at the AN/ML "Lightning" Duals with huge wins over Section 7AA foe Princeton 53-12 and AAA Lean and Mean foe Eden Prairie 46-19. They dropped the final dual to the No. 3AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 50-6. Tyler Pipo and Matt Fuller were both 3-0 at the Lightning duals. The Lightning earned their Wright County Conference championship in recent years with an impressive win over AA Lean and Mean Watertown-Mayer 44-26 and they also topped section 6AA rival Big Lake 55-15 in triangular action at Watertown. The Lightning had a great tourney performance with 231.5 points and thirteen place winners in the top five, to win the Mankato East "Cougars" Invitational. Jordan Hanan, Matt Fuller, Brady Kalla, Teddy Erickson and Derek Rachel all won championships and Josh Mosley, Alex Couette, Jesse Punchocar and Cal Redemske all earned second place. Ty Pipo, Isaac Hendrickson and Tom Condon all earned third place and Jake Laudenbach took fourth place. The Lightning dropped a huge Section 6AA dual to No. 9AA ranked New London-Spicer 23-37. They completed their regular dual season with a win over Section 6AA and Wright County Conference rival Litchfield 62-12.

7. LITTLE FALLS FLYERS

The Flyers topped Central Lakes Conference foes Rocori 51-24 and St. Cloud Tech 57-22.They dropped duals to a pair of Section 6AA rivals Becker 38-37 (8th Criteria) and Big Lake 39-36. The Flyers did come up short against Central Lakes Conference foe Sauk Rapids 47-22. They went 2-1 at the Fergus Falls "Isaiah "Pudge" Anderson Memorial" Duals with wins over AAA Bemidji 36-35 and AAA Moorhead 42-33. They dropped a dual to No. 4A Kimball 42-35. Frank Wilczek, Dillon Kiffer and Connor Swanson were all 3-0 at the Anderson Duals. The Flyers went 1-2 at the Anoka duals with a win over All Stars 46-30. They dropped duals to Lean and Mean Grand Rapids 40-26 and to AAA host Anoka 44-35. Frank Wilczek, Dillon Kifer, Joe Tuhlosky and Connor Swanson were all 3-0 at the Tornado duals. The Flyers have been dealing with some injuries and sickness the past couple of weeks. The Flyers topped Dassel Cokato 37-36 in a big Section 6AA dual.

8. DAWSON-BOYD/LQPV UNITED

The United topped West Central South Conference and Section 3AA foe Montevideo 59-18 and Yellow Medicine East 51-21. They had a great performance at the West Central Conference Tourney with 201 points and eleven placing in the top five to earn second place. John Weeding, Ryan Swenson, Codie Weeding, Sam Haas, Lane Mitchell and J. D. Struxness all won championships. Brandon Schmitt earned second place, Garth Oschendorf and T. J. Fulton both earned fourth place. Keith Abraham and Jordan Bothun both took fifth place.

9. BECKER BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs are surely turning some heads with their recent huge wins over Section 7AA power Mora 36-28, Section 6AA rivals Little Falls 38-37 (8th Criteria) and Section rival Sauk Centre/Melrose 39-21. They did drop a dual to Section 8AAA Lean and Mean Sauk Rapids 42-26. The Bulldogs closed out their regular season with a very impressive tourney showing with 144 points and eleven place winners to earn third place at the Albany "Purple Pride" Tourney. Austin Halverson won their only championsip, Matt Sadlowsky, Colton Vekved and Luke Schmalz all earned second place and Cory Nelson earned a third place. Grant Knick, Mike Smith, Eric Dudek and Boden Lorette all earned fourth place and C. J. Schwintek took fifth place.

10. MORA MUSTANGS


The Mustangs topped West Central North Conference foe Sauk Centre/Melrose 37-24 and dropped a dual to up and coming Section 6AA foe Becker 36-28. The Mustangs earned fourth place at the West Central Conference Tourney with 132.5 points and twelve place winners. Codie LaFromboise won their only championship and Brent Schroeder earned second place. Zach Smith earned third place and Tony Jenson, Thomas Hischer and Jordan Taber all earned fourth place. Austin Richard, Bradie Beier, Ryan Larson, Jordan Koch, Nic Kastenbauer and Reed Gmahl all took fifth place. They topped Section 7AA rival Hinckley-Finlayson/Pine City 41-33. The Mustangs topped Section 6AA foe Dassel Cokato 35-34. The Mustangs had a very good showing as they closed out their regular season with 172 points and eleven place winners to earned second place at the Albany "Purple Pride" Tournament. Codi LaFromboise and Reed Imahl earned championships and zach Smith earned second place. Brent Schroeder, Thomas Hischer, Ken Kastenbaur, Sam Lawrence, Jordan Tober, Bobby Deviot and Tony Jenson all earned third place and Austin Richard earned fourth place.

11. STAPLES-MOTLEY CARDINALS

The Cardinals topped Class A foes Breckenridge 55-6, Parkers Prairie 64-6 and Pelican Rapids 54-16. They dropped a dual to Section 7A power Pierz 43-21. They topped the field of teams at the Mid-State Conference tourney with 187.5 points and eight wrestlers in the top four. Brady Killian, Jordan Heldman and Chandler Trout won championships and Blake Petrich, Blake Miller, Josh Becker, Austin Redemske and David DeYonge all earned second place. Brent Lisson and Gavin Kadlec both earned third place and Tyler Pogreba earned fourth place. The Cardinals had a strong showing at the Walker "Wolf Pack" Invitational with 230 points and eleven place winners to win the championship. Blake Miller, Josh Becker, Brady Killian, JordanHeldman, Brent Lisson, Blake Petrich and Chandler Trout all won championships. Gavin Kadlec and David DeYonge both earned second place and Austin Redemske and Cody Drone both earned third place. The Cardinals had a great performance as they topped two Section 8AA rivals Perham 31-27 and Fergus Falls 36-28.


12. NORTH BRANCH VIKINGS


The Vikings topped North Suburban Conference rivals Totino Grace 56-15 and Irondale 44-30. The Vikings earned fourth place with 161.5 points and ten place winners at the Grand Rapids "Skip Nalan" Invitational. Jake Kostik and Justin Bergerson both won championships and Pat Mork and Reid Johnson both earned second place. Jake Pilz earned third place and Stuart Frink and Aric Steele both earned fourth place. Marc Lindbeck and Dalton Horek both took fifth place.

BIG LAKE HORNETS

The Hornets topped Section 6AA rival Little Falls 39-36 and AAA foe Rocori 51-15. They did drop a dual to Mississippi 8 Conference foe and No. 5AAA ranked Cambridge-Isanti 51-17. The Hornets dropped a pair duals to AA Lean and Mean foes Section 2AA power Watertown-Mayer 41-34 and Annandale-Maple Lake 55-15.

CHISAGO LAKES WILDCATS

The Wildcats topped North Suburban rival Irondale 39-25 and Benilde-St. Margaret 51-30. They earned third place at the "Legacy Invitational" with 147 points and nine place winners and minus two starters. Travis Kammerer and Jake Nase both won championships and Vince Virga, Mark Sontag, Bobby Sontag and Tyler Heckel all earned third place. Eric Brown, Sean McConville and Dylan Connell all earned fourth place. The Wildcats topped Section 7AA rival Cloquet 60-12 and they dropped a dual to Section 7AA power and No. 10AA ranked Milaca 53-9. The Wildcats earned third place at the Legacy tourney with 147.5 points and nine place winners. Travis Kammerer and Jake Nase both won championships and Vince Virga, Mark Sontag, Bobby Sontag and Tyler Heckel all earned third place. Eric Brown, Sean McConville and Dylan Connell all earned fourth place. The Wildcats earned 72 points and five place winners at the Northfield "Raiders" Invitational to take sixth place. Dylan Hoyt won a championship and Travis Kammerer earned second place and Quade Zupk earned third place. Earning fourth place was Tyler Heckel and taking fifth place was Jake Nase.


MAT RATS TOP CLASS AAA TEAMS


1. SAINT MICHAEL ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS

The Knights topped Mississippi 8 Conference foe Princeton 60-6 and Section 7AAA No. 11 ranked Elk River 58-4. They topped three foes at the Annandale "Lightning" Duals; Section 7AAA rival St. Francis 66-7, Section 5AA foe Orono 69-0 and Lean and Mean Section 6AA power Annandale/Maple Lake 50-6. The Knights went 4-0 at their Knights invitational with wins over No. 10AAA ranked Prior Lake 52-11, AAA Wayzata 72-3, No. 10A ranked Kenyon-Wanamingo 52-15 and No. 4AA Foley 30-21. Cole Sladek, Wayne Voss, Parker Betts, Nick Edling and Jake Lillie were all 4-0, Tommy Thorn, Lucas Martin and Shaun Little were all 3-0. The Knights close out their regular season with big wins over AAA Champlin Park 47-9 and No. 10AA ranked Milaca 47-9.

2. CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BLUEJACKETS

The Bluejackets topped Mississippi 8 Conference foes Big Lake 51-17 and Princeton 59-12. They earned third place at the Anoka "Tornado" Duals with wins over AAA Anoka 41-21 and AA Lean and Mean Grand Rapids 45-24, they dropped a dual to No. 9AA ranked New London-Spicer 39-34. Cody Skog, Clayton Jennissen and Derek Swanson were all 3-0 at the Tornado duals. The Jackets were missing three of their starters at the Anoka Duals.

3. ELK RIVER ELKS

The Elks topped Section 7AAA rival Blaine 39-22 and Northwest Suburban foes Champlin Park foe 51-21, Centennial 31-29, Park Center 60-10 and Robbinsdale Armstrong 67-11. They dropped a duals to No. 3AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 58-4 and No. 4AA ranked Foley 50-9.

4. WILLMAR CARDINALS


The Cardinals topped Class 2A ranked BOLD 43-27 and dropped a dual to No. 6A Minneota 35-21. They topped Section 8AAA and Central Lakes Conference foes Rocori 64-13 St. Cloud Apollo 52-30. They clinched a tie for the Central Lakes Conference with a win over Sartell 52-24. The Cardinals had a great tourney with 153 points and twelve place winners to win the Montevideo "Dave Roder" Invitational. Nathaniel Swoyer won the lone championship, Nate Mittag, Colten Carlson, Seth Pollock, Zach Morris, Coty Milhausen and Cass Herzog all earned second place. Austin Miley and Eugene Stephen both earned third place andZch Lueders, and Taylor Neumann both earned fourth place and David Arnold took fifth place. The Cardinals had a great showing to close out the season at the Morris tourney with 165 points and ten place winners. Cass Herzog, Colton Carlson and Nate Mittag all won championships and Alex Johannes and Zach Morris both earned second place. Eugene Stepan, Augustine Hahn, Seth Pollock and Zach Lueders all earned third place and Austin Miley took fifth place.

5. SAUK RAPIDS STORM

The Storm topped Central Lakes Conference rivals Little Falls 47-22, St. Cloud Tech 60-15, Sartell 51-15 and Section 6AA foe Becker 42-26. They dropped two duals at the Forest Lake "Ranger" Duals to the host No. 7AAA ranked Forest Lake 46-27 and to Section 4A Lean and Mean LeSueur-Henderson 43-28.

6. BRAINERD WARRIORS

The Warriors dropped a dual to Central Lakes Conference foe St. Cloud Apollo 37-30 and they topped Class A Lean and Mean rival Aitkin 40-24. They closed out their regular season with a big win over Section 8AAA and Central Lakes Conference foe Rocori 67-8.

7. BEMIDJI LUMBERJACKS

The Lumberjacks topped Section 8AAA rivals Alexandria 45-30, Rocori 51-21, St. Cloud Tech 44-32. and Class A Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 41-35. They dropped a dual to Lean and Mean Class A Badger/Greenbush-Middle River 46-21. They went 1-2 at the Fergus Falls "Isaiah "Pudge" Anderson Memorial" Duals with a huge win over Section 8AAA rival Moorhead 45-23. They lost a very close dual to Section 6AA foe Little Falls 36-35 and to the tourney champions No. 4A ranked Kimball 63-14. The Lumberjacks continue to turn heads with a couple of more nice wins as they defeated the defending Section 8AAA champions St. Cloud Apollo 35-22 and Class A rival Roseau 49-25. They had a pair of wins over Section 8AA foes Fosston-Bagley 54-21 and Blackduck/Cass Lake/Bena 49-27 to complete their regular season with a 18-9 dual meet mark.

8. MOORHEAD SPUDS

The Spuds topped Wahpeton, ND 36-29 and dropped close duals to Little Falls 42-33 and to Section 8AAA rival Bemidji 45-23. Brock Tallockson and Chase Morlock were both 3-0 at the Fergus Falls "Isaiah "Pudge" Anderson Memorial" Duals. The Spuds topped Section 8AAA rival St. Cloud Tech 60-15. The Spuds had a great tourney performance with150.5 points and eleven place winners to earned third place at the Alexandria "Big Ole" Tourney. Chase Morlock won a championship and Joe Carpenter, Jacob Rositas and Kenny Mark all earned second places. Nate King and A. J. Wheeler both earned third places, Isaac Mulinix, Kelvin Bennitt and Brock Tallakson both earned fourth place and Evan Gary and Tommy Wychor both took fifth place. The Spuds topped East Grand Forks/Sacred Heart 52-21. They closed out their regular season with two big wins over Section 8AAA rivals Rocori 48-21 and St. Cloud Tech 51-21.

9. ST. CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES

The Eagles topped Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rival Brainerd 37-30. They did drop duals to Section 8AAA rival Bemidji 35-22 and Central Lakes Conference rivals Fergus Falls 38-25 and Willmar 52-30. The Eagles earned seventh place at the Albany "Purple Pride" Tourney with 82 points and five place winners. Mitch Bengston won their only championship, he was also voted by the Head Coaches as the Outstanding Wrestling of the Tourney.

10. ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS


The Tigers dropped duals to Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rivals Alexandria 40-34 and Sauk Rapids 60-15, Moorhead 52-21 and Bemidji 44-32 and Little Falls 60-15.

11. BUFFALO BISON

The Bison dropped a Mississippi 8 Conference dual to No. 6AA ranked Monticello 71-3. They took eighth place at the Totino Grace "Eagles" invitational with 81.5 points and six place winners. Lucas Mock earned second place and Tanner Maus and Jonathan Wirkkala earned third place. Gus Koppi, Hutner Theil and Tanner Robasse all took fifth place. The dropped a pair of duals one to Section 8AAA rival Willmar 44-18 and to Section 6AA foe Sartell 40-30. The Bison earned seventh place with 92 points at the Mankato East "Couger" Tourney with six place winners. Cedric Jeminez won a championship and Gus Koppi and Adam Treptau both earned second place. Tanner Maus earned third place and Jimmy Pregler took fourth place and Hunter Durand took fifth place.

12. ALEXANDRIA CARDINALS

The Cardinals topped Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA foe St. Cloud Tech 40-34 and they dropped a Section 8AAA dual to Bemidji 45-30.

13. ROCORI SPARTANS


The Spartans dropped a pair of Central Lakes Conference duals to Little Falls 41-24, Brainerd 67-8 and Willmar 64-13. They topped AA rival Albany 42-25 and they also dropped a dual to Section 6AA rival Big Lake 51-15. They had a good showing with 82 points and seventh place at the Alexandria "Big Ole" tourney. Jordan Hemmesch won their only championship, Dylan Gertken earned second place, Nate Ness earned third place, Matt Chilhos earned fourth place and Zavier Gropper took fifth place. The Spartans closed out their regular season dropping a pair of duals to Section 8AAA rivals Bemidji 51-21 and Moorhead 48-21.
