FAVORITES: KIMBALL CUBS and the ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY FALCONS
The Cubs of Kimball have back from their 33-2 and fifth place in the state team several very talented wrestlers. They have six state qualifiers, six section place winners and five others with a great deal of experience. Despite the graduation of seven seniors including two state place winners, look for the Cubs to be a very strong force to be dealt with. They should make a strong challenge for state, section and conference honors. Marcus Hamer, Tanner Mills, Caramon Hansen, Quinten Berres, Mitchell McKee and Jordan Joseph should be their key leaders thru out the season.
The Falcons of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City have back from the 24-1 dual meet campaign and West Central Conference championship team a lot of very talented wrestlers. They have six state qualifiers, including two place winners, four section place winners and seven others with a great deal of experience from that team. Despite the graduation of four state tourney wrestlers look for the Falcons to make a big improvement over the course of season. They could challenge for section, state and conference honors. Hayden Rouser, Larry Bomstad, Matt Meyer, Tyler Berghuis and Logan Peterson should be their key leaders thru out the season.
DARK HORSES: PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS and the BELGRADE-BROOTEN-ELROSA JAGUARS
The Bulldogs of Paynesville have back from their 18-9 and final four appearance in the dual section dual meet several wrestlers with a great deal of experience. They will have six section place winners and six others with a lot of experience. Despite the graduation of seven, including four section placer of which two were state tourney wrestlers, they should improve during the course of the season. The Bulldogs should be a force to be dealt with by the end of the season. Look for them to challenge those top teams for section and conference honors. Cole Woehler, Dominick Platow and Clay Spanier should be their leaders thru out the season.
The Jaguars of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa have back from their 10-15 campaign a very good crew of wrestlers. They will have four section place winners and eleven others with a great deal of experience returning. They graduated only two wrestlers last spring, look for the Jaguars to make a big challenge for the top four spot in the dual meet campaign. If they stay free of injuries and their younger wrestlers continue to improve look for them to be one of those top four teams. Ross Rath, Dillon Knutson, Patrick Rooney and Daniel Rooney should be their key leaders thru out the season.
Look for this to be a great battle for that number four spot in their dual meet campaign. Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles, Howard Lake-Waverly, Browerville-Eagle Valley and Osakis all could make a strong challenge for that spot. There are three returning medal winners back from last season that includes: Hayden Rouser and Larry Bomstad of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and Quinten Berres of Kimball. There are a total of thirteen returning state qualifiers from last year's state tourney action. One not mentioned about is Chris Cox of Howard Lake Waverly Winsted.
