CENTRAL MINNESOTA MAT RATS FINAL REGULAR SEASON REPORT (17th Annual)

CLASS A TEAMS

KIMBALL CUBS

The Cubs topped Central Minnesota Conference and No. 10A ranked Pierz 47-22. They topped three foes at the Fergus Falls "Pudge Anderson" Duals with a quarterfinal win over Wahpeton, ND 69-9, in the semifinals they topped AA Dassel-Cokato 50-28 and in the finals they topped AAA Lean and Mean Little Falls 50-25. Mitchell McKee, Quinten Berres, Tanner Mills and Alex Thurber were all 3-0 at the Fergus Falls duals. The Cubs topped No. 10A Pierz for the Central Minnesota Conference championship 47-22. They topped a pair of Section 5A team; Osakis 69-3 and Browerville/Eagle Valley 69-12. They topped Section five rivals and Central Minnesota Conference rivals Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 59-6, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 56-12, Lean and Mean Section 5AA Rockford 58-15 and former Central Minnesota Conference rival Royalton 56-15.




ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY FALCONS

The Falcons topped West Central Conference rivals Morris Area 59-12 and Yellow Medicine East 53-15. They dropped a dual to No. 3AA ranked Foley 39-21. They had a very solid performance at the West Central Conference with 220 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top six. Tyler Berghuis, Hayden Rouser, Matt Meyer, Larry Bomstad, Maverick Whitcomb and James Nelson all won championships. Logan Peterson and Colin Kragenbring both earned second place; all the above mention wrestlers earned All Conference honors. T. J. Hoffman and Robert Rasmussen both earned third place, Lee Whitcomb earned fourth place and Jordan Fester took sixth place. Special Congratulations to Hayden Rouser as he was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Conference Tournament. The Falcons topped West Central Conference rivals Montevideo 64-6, Paynesville 57-12 and No. 9A ranked rival Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 44-18. They topped three foes at the Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted quadrangular with one win over the host and Section 5A rival Howard Lake/Winsted/Waverly 57-15 and Section 2A Medford 66-6 and AA Lean and Mean Rockford 64-6. Robert Rasmussen, Tyler Berghuis, Derek Dergerud, Hayden Rouser, Logan Peterson, Larry Bomstad, James Nelson and Colin Kragenbring.


KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS


The Fighting Saints topped a pair of Section 3A rivals Canby 43-15 and Yellow Medicine East 53-15. They topped Class A Lean and Mean Section 5A rival Paynesville 51-18. They dropped a dual to No. 3A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 44-18. The Fighting Saints topped the field of teams at the Alexandria "Big Ole" Invitational with 213 points and thirteen placing in the top five. Jordan Engler, Cody Peters, Lamberto Rodriguez, Jessie Engler and Jordan Rothers all won championships. Nick Meyer, Alex Mond and Isaac Froelich earned second place and Kyle Baker and Austin Rothers both earned third place. Simon Johnson and Chase Norton both earned fourth place and Travis Lamecker took fifth place. They completed their regular season with great performances with a big win over AA Montevideo 65-6 and with 241 points and twelve place winners to earn the championship at the Morris Area "Tigers" Invitational. Jordan Rothers, Jordan Engler, Cody Peters, Lamberto Rodriques and Zach Carlson all won championships. Jessie Engler, Nick Meyer, Austin Rothers and Issac Froehlich all earned second place, Chase Norton, Alex Mond and Jared Krieger earned third place and Kyle Baker earned fourth place.


PIERZ PIONEERS

The Pioneers dropped a Central Minnesota Conference dual to the No. 2A ranked Kimball 47-22. They topped the sixteen field of teams with 186.5 points and eight wrestlers placing in the top five to claim the championship at the South St. Paul “Veldman” Invitational. Brad Meyer and Nathan Tomala both won championships and Chris Ortman and Brandon Sullivan both earned second place. Dustin Waytashek earned third place, Ryley Smude and Evan Woitalla both earned fourth place and Travis Peterson took fifth place. The Pioneers topped Section 5A rival Osakis 57-15 and AA rival Staples-Motley 56-6. They topped No. 11A ranked Holdingford for the number one seed in their Section 7A dual meet campaign 32-21. The Pioneers completed their regular season with wins over two Central Minnesota Conference rivals Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 39-25 and Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 38-37.

HOLDINGFORD HUSKIERS

The Huskiers topped Central Minnesota Conference and AA Lean and Mean rival Rockford 55-9. They topped two foes at the Browerville/Eagle Valley “Bronco” Duals with big wins over Parkers Prairie 60-15 and West Central Area 64-12. They did drop a dual to Class A Lean and Mean Border West 49-24, with minus two starters. Jordan Gombos won all three of his matches at the Bronco duals. They dropped a dual to Central Minnesota Conference and Section 7A rival No. 9A ranked Pierz 37-21. The Huskiers topped the field of teams at the Rogers "Royal Rumble" Invitational with huge wins over Section 7A foe Mille Lacs 48-17, Section 3A foe MACCRAY/RCW 57-19 and AAA Mound-Westonka 45-15. Mike Jarnot and Adam Lane both won all three matches at the Royal Rumble as they used several wrestlers in this event.

NEW YORK MILLS EAGLES

The Eagles are on a bit of a roll with a huge win over Section 6A rival Ottertail Central 49-22. They did lose to AA Lean and Mean Pequot Lake/Pine River/Backus 31-28 in a very exciting dual. The Eagles topped Section 6A rival Wadena-Deer Creek 49-25 and Section 8A rival Walker-Hackensack-Akeley-Nevis 45-19. The Eagles soared over the field of teams at the Park Region Conference tournament with 186 points and eleven wrestlers placing in the top five. Shane Novak, Jeremiah Harper and Maison Roberts all won championships and Tyler Ehnert, Michael Meyer and Noah Pesola all earned second place. All the finalists earned All Conference honors. Shane Novak was honored by the coaches as the Conference 2011-2012 wrestler of the year. Austin Hamon earned fourth place and Tayler Ericksrud, Max Carlson and Gunner Flynn all took fifth place. The Eagles topped Osakis for the Park Region Conference Dual Meet Championship 37-28.


PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs topped a pair of foes over Section 5A rival Eden Valley-Watkins 54-21 and Section 3A MACCRAY/RCW 44-25. They earned sixth place at the West Central Conference Tournament with 74 points and five wrestlers placing in the top five. Clay Spanier earned All Conference honors by earning second place and Caleb Burris and Dominick Platow both earned fourth place. Tanner Harder earned fifth place and Jarred Kuntsleben took sixth place. The Bulldogs dropped a pair of duals to Class A state ranked teams; No. 3A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 57-12 and No. 9A ranked Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 51-18.


BELGRADE-BROOTEN-ELROSA JAGUARS

The Jaguars topped Section 6A foe Parkers Prairie 66-12. They earned fourth place at the New London-Spicer “Wildcat” Invitational with 129.5 points and eight placing in the top five. Tyler Tensen and Patrick Rooney both won championships. Lee Borgerding earned second place and Josey Tensen and Dillon Knutson both earned third place. Alex Schramel earned fourth place and Ausitn Jaeger and Jared Steffenson both took fifth place. The Jaguars topped three foes at the Browerville/Eagle Valley “Broncos” Duals with big wins over Class A Lean and Mean Border West 39-35 and West Central Area 48-30. They also had a big win over Section 5A rival Browerville/Eagle Valley 51-18. Tyler Tensen, Jared Steffenson, Austin Jaeger, Daniel Rooney and Dillon Knutson were all 3-0 at the Bronco duals. The Jaguars topped section 5A rival Minnewaska 54-21 and they lost to Central Minnesota Conference rival and No. 2A ranked Kimball 56-12. The Jaguars closed out their regular season with a win over Central Minnesota Conference rival Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 50-21 and they dropped a dual to Central Minnesota Conference foe Pierz 39-25.


BORDER WEST BUCCANEERS

The Buccaneers topped Section 6A foe Wadena-Deer Creek 55-16 and they dropped a dual to another Section 6A rival Barnesville 37-36. They were 2-1 at the Browerville/Eagle Valley “Bronco” Duals with wins over No. 11A Holdingford 49-24 and Section 5A foe Browerville/Eagle Valley 61-16. They did drop a dual to Class A Lean and Mean Section 5A Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 39-35. Austin Maanum and Tracer Lee both were 3-0 at the Bronco duals. They topped Milbank, SD 57-24 and Grotan, SD 57-24, and also dropped a very close dual to Section 6A rival Barnesville 37-36. The Buccaneers topped two Section 6A rivals Breckenridge 51-21 and Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 65-18.

AITKIN GOBBLERS

The Gobblers topped Great River Conference rival Mille Lacs 49-17 and Section 6A rival Crosby-Ironton 69-6. They topped AA rival Hibbing 54-26. They also had a pair of big wins over AAA Bemidji 59-12 and Section 8A rival Deer River 61-18. They closed out their regular season with a win over Section 7A rival Royalton 57-18. The Gobblers topped the field of teams with 225 points and all fourteen placing in the top four to earn the championship at the Great River Conference tournament. Jordan Chouanard, Cooper Blau, Adam Bast and Jerod Novak all won championships. Colton LaPlante, Jack Braton, Brian Wold and Alan Bast all earned second place. Roy Wigton, Noah Landrus, Adam Jackson, Shaun Phillip and Travis Bare all earned third place and Anthony Ashton earned fourth place.

UNITED NORTH CENTRAL WARRIORS

The Warriors topped two Park Region Conference rivals Ottertail Central 42-29 and Parkers Prairie 48-24 and they dropped a dual to 8A rival Frazee 43-18. They had a very good performance with 136.5 points and seven place winners at the Park Region Conference. Tommy Tellers, Sammy Tellers, Mike Johnson and Taylor Carlson all earned second place and All Conference honors. Tanner Bacon earned third place, Dylan Huttunen earned fourth place and Tristan Palmer took fifth place. Considering possibly their top two wrestlers wasn't able to compete, they had an excellent tourney.


BRECKENRIDGE COWBOYS

The Cowboys had very good tournament performance where they earned 112 points and had eight place in the top five to earned third place at the Heart of Lakes Conference tournament. Stephen Erlandson, Greg Erlandson, Cole Praus and Conrad Kondos all won championships. Josh Peterson earned fourth place and Derek Nordick, Josh Stuehrenberg and Travis Miranowski all took fifth place. The Cowboys topped Section 6A rival Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 39-36 and they dropped a dual to Section 6A rival Border West 51-21. The Cowboys earned 104 points and they had seven place winners to earned fifth place at the Morris Area "Tigers" Invitational. Conrad Kondos and Greg Erlandson both won championships and Stephen Erlandson and Jesse Differding both earned second place. Josh Peterson earned third place, Josh Stuehrenberg earned fourth place and Zach Willpacht took fifth place.

BOLD WARRIORS

The Warriors had a great tournament performance with 108 points and ten placing in the top six to earned fourth place at the West Central Conference Tournament. Brady Zitzmann earned second place and Trevor Nisson and Benny Garcia both earned third place and Ben Wolff earned fourth place. Sean Wiebel, Martin Minkel, Nick Steffel and Chaz Rousch all earned fifth place and Joel Erickson took sixth place. The dropped two duals to AA rivals Hutchinson 54-24 and Litchfield 45-30. The Warriors dropped duals to No. 5AA New London-Spicer 32-44 and to No. 5A Wabasso/Red Rock Central 52-12.


OSAKIS SILVERSTREAKS

The Silverstreaks topped Park Region Conference foe West Central Area 46-21 and Browerville/Eagle Valley 45-27. Also Section 5A rivals Minnewaks 46-30 and Howard Lake Waverly Winsted 49-21. They topped Section 3A rival Benson 48-24 and AA Staples-Motley 46-18. They did drop duals to No. 2A ranked Kimball 69-3 and No. 10A ranked Pierz 56-6. They had a great tourney performance with 152.5 points and nine wrestlers placing in the top five to earned second place at the Park Region Conference tournament. Garrett Sherr earned second place and Trenton Coyer, Brandon Spanswick and Derek Carls all earned second place. All finalists earned All Conference honors. Cody Adophson, Brendon Coyer, Ryan Engfer and Austin Collins all earned fourth place and Austin Rollag took fifth place. They dropped the Park Region Conference Championship Dual Meet To New York Mills 37-28. They earned seventh place at the Albany "Purple Pride" Invitational with 70 points. They did hold out a number of their regular wrestlers. Garrett Sherr earned second place, Cody Adolphson and Derek Carls both earned third place and Austi Rollog and Brandon Spanswick both earned fourth place.


CLASS AA


FOLEY FALCONS

They topped No. 3A Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 39-21 and they dominated two AA foes No. 9AA Hutchinson 56-16 and Section 6AA and Lean and Mean rival Annandale-Maple Lake 45-13. They topped Granite Ridge Conference rival Little Falls to win the conference championship 41-24. They topped a pair of ranked foes No. 5AA ranked New London-Spicer 42-19 and No. 12AA ranked Dawson-Boyd/LQPV 41-18. They also topped a pair of AAA rivals No. 3AAA Saint Michael-Albertville 29-28 and No. 9AAA Prior Lake 39-15. The Falcons topped No. 6AAA ranked Coon Rapids 36-27 to close out their regular season.

NEW LONDON-SPICER WILDCATS

The Wildcats topped No. 3A Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 32-29 for the West Central Conference championship. They had a great tournament performance with 200 points and ten placing in the top three to earned second place in the West Central Conference Tournament. Chase Austvold, Treyton Austvold and Grant Vagle all won championships. Dylan Hanson, Kyle Cappelan and Tanner Tobkin all earned second place and Cameron Steffen and David Nething earned third place. The Wildcats topped No. 12AA and West Central Conference foe Dawson-Boyd/LQPV 48-21 and dropped a dual to Section 6AA and No. 3AA ranked Foley 42-19. They earned third place at the Anoka "Tornado" Duals with a win over Section 7AA foe Grand Rapids 47-28; in the semifinals they came up short against 4AAA ranked Cambridge-Isanti 40-24. They earned third place by defeating AAA Lean and Mean Little Falls 36-27. Jakob Skageberg was the only 3-0 wrestler at the Tornado duals. They topped West Central Conference rival Bold 41-22. They dropped their final regular season dual to No. 1A Jackson County Central 40-22.

BECKER BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs had a huge win over the No. 7AA ranked Milaca 37-26. They also topped two AA foes Mississippi 8 Conference rival Rogers 66-10 and Section 6AA foe Zimmerman 66-13. They dropped a very exciting dual to No. 4AAA ranked and Mississippi 8 rival Cambridge-Isanti 34-22. They also topped AAA and former Section 6AA rival Sartell 54-9. The Bulldogs closed out their regular season with a very impressive performance; despite the fact they didn't have a couple of their starters competing. They earned 242 points and had thirteen place winners to earned the championship at the Albany "Purple Pride" Invitational. Cory Nelson, Luke Schmalz, Mike Soule, Austin Halverson and Dustin Peterson all won championships. Brady Kurtz, Bobby Lee, Sam Kirchner, Zach Zimmer and Colton Vekved all earned second place. Cody Ferris earned third place and Steve Kappes took fifth place.

MILACA WOLVES


The Wolves topped AA rival Zimmerman 69-4 and they dropped a dual to No. 8AA ranked Becker 37-26. They flexed their muscles and topped Granite Ridge and Section 7AA rival Mora 42-19. The Wolves earned fourth place at the Blaine "
Bengals" Duals with a win over AAA Osseo 63-12. They lost a pair of very close duals to AAA Rosemount 27-26 and to No. 6AAA Coon Rapids 31-28. Justin Ladehoff, Joe Moscho and Joey Curtis were all 3-0 at the Bengal duals. The Wolves topped AAA foe Sauk Rapids 57-11 to close out their final regular season dual. Special Congratulations also goes out to Head Coach Randy Zimmer as he coached his final regular season dual as he has announced his retirement after his forty-one years of his contributions. May he enjoy his time away from the practice room during our winter months.

DAWSON-BOYD/LQPV UNITED


The United topped West Central Conference foe Benson 68-9 and dropped a very close dual to No. 4A ranked Minneota 35-31. They had a very good tournament with 168 points and nine placing in the top six to earn third place at the West Central South Conference tournament. Sam Hass and J. D. Struxness both won championships and John Weeding and Garth Oschendorf both earned second place. Brandon Schmitt and T. J. Fulton both earned third place, Jared Rolland and Jordan Staab earned fourth place and Keith Abraham took sixth place. They dropped a pair of duals to AA ranked teams; No. 3AA Foley 55-9 and to No. 5AA and West Central Conference rival New London-Spicer 48-21.

MONTICELLO MAGIC

The Magic topped New Ulm 52-6 and Little Falls 33-21. They dropped a dual to a Mississippi 8 Conference rival Cambridge-Isanti 50-22. They had a good tournament performance with 164 points and ten place winners to earned fourth place at the South St. Paul "Pete Veldman" Invitational. Zach Beaumaster, Luke Palmer and Nic Grimley all earned second place. Logan Stiller, Eric Bourgeois, Jake Bethieume and Seth Gardner all earned third place. Tavin Zavedi and Ross Hednerson both earned fifth place and Brent Riddle took sixth place. They topped a big Section 5AA rival Lean and Mean Rockford 47-31. They also topped New Ulm 52-6 and Little Falls 33-21. They earned second place at the Lakeville North "Panther" Duals with wins over AAA Lakeville South 50-22 and AAA Woodbury 52-23. They dropped the championship to AAA Lean and Mean Lakeville North 49-24. Jack Bourgeois, Eric Bourgeois, Jake Berthiaume and Nic Grimley were all 3-0 at the Panther duals. They closed out their dual portion of their regular season schedule with a win over Mississippi 8 Conference rival Rogers 60-9. The Magic had a very good performance with 168 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top five to earned second place at the Mound-Westonka "Whitehawk" Invitatonal Nic Grimley, Seth Gardner, Jake Berthiaume, Tervin Zavadil, Logan Stiller and Zach Beaumaster all earned second place. Eric Bourgeois and Ross Henderson both earned third place; Mitch Hanson, Sam Secord and Nick Vetsch all took fifth place.

CHISAGO LAKES WILDCATS

The Wildcats topped St. Francis 33-30 in a North Suburban Conference dual. They earned second place with 110 points at their invitational with eight wrestlers placing in the top two. Kyle Schoenecker, Dylan Connell, Quade Zupko and Chase Kammermer all won championships. Joe Virga, Jonah Westbury, Carson Velaski and Joe Olinger all earned second place. The Wildcats topped AAA Stillwater 38-25, AAA East Ridge 39-30 and dropped a close one to Roseville 37-32. Chase Kammerer, Quade Zapko and Dylan Connell were all 3-0 at the triangular. They topped Conference foe Benilde-Saint Margerets 59-10 and they lost to No. 9AA ranked Hutchinson 63-18.

FERGUS FALLS OTTERS

The Otters topped Section 8AA rivals Staples-Motley 57-17 and Detroit Lakes in a very close 37-36 match. They went 1-2 at the Pudge Anderson duals with a win over Bemidji 40-24. They dropped duals to AAA Moorhead 29-27 and to Section 8AA rival Thief River Falls 42-24. Abbot Aho, Matt Laugen and Tyler Giza were all 3-0 at the Pudge Anderson duals. Abbot and Matt both won their 125 Career Matches. They topped a pair of Section 8AA rivals Detroit Lakes in a big section dual 37-36 and Staples-Motley 57-17. They topped a pair of Central Lakes Conference rival St. Cloud Tech 42-19. The Otters concluded their regular season with a win over AAA Central Lakes Conference rival St. Cloud Apollo 61-9 and they lost a close dual to Section 8AA rival Perham 34-26.

DASSEL-COKATO CHARGERS

The Chargers topped AAA Chanhassen/Chaska 41-72. The Chargers had a very good tourney as they went 2-1 at the Fergus Falls "Pudge Anderson" Duals with big wins over AAA Bemidji 49-24 and AA Thief River Falls 57-22. They did drop a dual to No. 2A Kimball 50-28. Breinet Pokornowski, Andrew Madison, Tom Halonen, Spencer Broberg and Josh Anderson. They topped AAA Chaska 41-27 and Wright County Conference rival Waconia 37-27 and AA foe Benille St. Margarets 58-21. The Chargers topped Section 6AA rival Melrose/Sauk Rapids 57-12 and Class A Eden Valley-Watkins 40-30.

ANNANDALE/MAPLE LAKE LIGHTNING

The Lightning topped Sibley East 47-22, Princeton 68-3 and Eden Prairie 45-29. They dropped a dual to No. 3AAA Saint Michael-Albertville 50-15. Teddy Erickson was 4-0 and Derek Rachel 3-0 at the Lightning duals. They dropped a pair of duals to No. 3AA ranked Foley 45-13 and No. 9AA Hutchinson 48-27. They earned third place at the Mankato East "Cougars" Invitational with 156 points and nine place winners. Jordan Hanan and Teddy Erickson both won championships. Justin Lehtola earned section place, Jake Laudenbach, Isaac Hendrickson and Tom Condon all earned third place. Joe Mosely, Cullen Gallahger and Tyler Mies all earned fourth place.

PEQUOT LAKES/PINE RIVER/BACKUS ROAD CREW

The Road Crew topped Class A Lean and Mean rival New York Mills 31-28 and they dropped a close dual to Grand Rapids 41-23. They had a great tournament performance with 184 points and twelve placing in the top three as they earned second place at the Mid-State Conference Tourney. Jace Loge, Darian Rubner, Peter Harrison and Justin Mackenthun all won championships. Drey Loge, Nick Gravdahl, Anthony Phillipson and Osmund Miller all earned second place, Nat Adkins, Derek Soenstahl and Jared Adkins earned third place and Lance Squires took fifth place.
They topped AAA Bemidji 62-10 and AA Virginia 71-9 to close out their regular season in dual meet action. The Road Crew had a good tourney performance at Morris with 165 points and thirteen place winners. Darian Rubner won the only championship and Nate Adkins and Jace Loge both earned second place. Jared Adkins, Peter Harrison and Derek Sonenstahl earned third place; Joe Harrison, Kyle Jordan, Kurt Kemp and Justin Mackenthun all earned fourth place and Nick Kramp, Nick Gravdahl and Tristan Rubner all took fifth place.

ROCKFORD ROCKETS

The Rockets dropped a Central Minnesota Conference dual to No. 11A ranked Holdingford 55-9. They had a very good showing at the Totino Grace "Eagles" Tournament with 151 points and eleven placing in top five. Ty Griffin, Zach Johnson and John Pedepenning all won championship and Daniel Paine and Danny Lynch both earned third place. Colton Weber, Brad Johnson and Mike Gasper all earned fourth place. Zach Klonne and Sasha Galka both took fifth place. They dropped a big section 5AA dual to No. 10AA Monticello 47-31. The Rockets concluded their regular season as they lost a dual to Central Minnesota Conference rival and No. 2A ranked Kimball 58-15.

MORRIS AREA/HANCOCK/CHOKIO ALBERTA TIGERS


The Tigers dropped a dual to West Central Conference and No. 3A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 59-12. They did earn fifth place at the West Central Conference tournament with 103 points and six placer winners. Zach Gibson was their lone champion and Joel Harrison earned second place for All Conference honors. Connor Metzgar earned third place, Evan Nelson earned fourth place and Dillan Johnson and Travis Ostby both took fifth place. They earned third place at the Alexandria "Big Ole" Invitational with 128.5 points and nine place winners. Tim Ostby and Zach Gibson won championships and Myles Smith earned second place. Connor Metzger earned third place, Evan Nelson, Dillon Johnson, and Jerrid Berning all earned fourth place and Wade Ehlers and Tyler Moser both took fifth place. The Tigers had a great performance to close out their regular season with 166 points and ten place winners. Tim Ostby, Connor Metzger, Zach Gibson and Joel Harrison all won championships, Evan Nelson earned second place. Mitchell Ascheman, Travis Ostby and Dillon Johnson all earned third place and Wade Ehlers and Tyler Moser took fifth place. They earned second place at their Morris Area "Tiger" Invitational.

MORA MUSTANGS

The Mustangs have been battling sickness and injuries during a lot of the season. They did top Section 7AA foes Rush City/Braham 70-6, Hinckley-Finlayson/Pine City 50-21, Cloquet 68-5 and Hibbing 55-10. They did dropp a dual to Granite Ridge Conference and No. 11AAA ranked Little Falls 46-22. They closed out their regular season with a good performance with 159 points and twelve place winners to earn second place at the Albany "Purple Pride" Invitational. Codie LaFramboise won their only championship, Thomas Fischer, Reed Gmahl and Ken Kastenbauer all earned second place. Brent Nelson and Zach Smith both earned third place and Nick Kastenbauer, Brandon Lucking, Blake Poole, Brady Beier and Austin Richard all earned fourth place and Tyler Runke took fifth place.




CLASS AAA TEAMS


SAINT MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS

The Knights topped AAA foe Irondale 55-15. They also dominated four teams at the Annandale/Maple Lake "Lighting" Duals with wins over AAA Eden Prairie 50-15, AA Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple Lake 50-15, Class A Sibley East 56-14 and AA Princeton 64-6. They used several different wrestlers at this event. Mitchell Eull, Wayne Voss and Lincoln Mellinger were 3-0 at the Lightning duals. The Knights topped No. 9AAA ranked Prior Lake 40-17 and dropped a very close dual to the No. 3AA ranked Foley 29-28. The Knights closed out their regular season with a big win over Mississippi 8 Conference foe Big Lake 53-3 and they dropped a dual to the No. 1AA ranked Simley 41-18. Again the Knights were without several starters in their dual with Simley.


CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BLUE JACKETS

The Bluejackets topped Mississippi 8 rivals No. 10AA ranked Monticello 50-22 and No. 8AA ranked Becker 34-22. The Bluejackets came up just a little short at the Anoka "Tornado" Duals as they fell to No. 3AAA ranked Hastings 33-31. They topped AAA rival Andover in the quarterfinals 61-11 and No. 5AA ranked New London-Spicer 40-24 in the semifinals. Tommy Guy, Tyler Tischer, Travis Holt, Cole Bakke, Cody Skog and Clayton Jennissen were all 3-0 at the Tornado duals. The Blue Jackets closed out their regular season with a pair of wins over Section 7AAA rival St. Frances 66-6 and AAA Stillwater 39-21.


LITTLE FALLS FLYERS

The Flyers topped a pair of Section 7AA teams Granite Ridge foe and AA Lean and Mean Mora 46-22 and Rush City/Braham 55-24. The Flyers earned second place at the Fergus Falls "Pudge Anderson" Duals with wins over Section 8AAA rival Moorhead 53-21, AA Lean and Mean Thief River Falls 41-34 and they dropped the championship to No. 2A ranked Kimball Area 50-25. Frank Wilcek, Connnor Swenson, Connor Scherping and Dillon Kifer were all 3-0 at the Fergus Falls duals. They topped a pair of former Central Lakes Conference rivals Sauk Rapids 48-21 and Rocori 51-19. The Flyers earned fourth place at the Anoka "Tornado" Duals with a quarterfinal win over Anoka 36-33. They lost to No. 2AAA ranked Hastings 58-13 in the semifinals and dropped a very close dual to No. 5AA ranked New London-Spicer 36-27. Frank Wilczek and Dillon Kifer were both 3-0 at the Tornado duals. The Flyers closed out their regular season with a pair of wins over Granite Ridge Conference foe Princeton 52-19 and Section 8AAA foe Sartell 53-15.

SAINT CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES

The Eagles topped cross town rival; Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA foe St. Cloud Tech 43-27. They did top a very good Central Lakes Conference rival Brainerd 35-30 for the Central Lakes Conference championship. The Eagles topped Section 8AAA rival Bemidji 47-12 and lost to No. 7A ranked Badger-Greenbush-Middle River 42-34. At the Bemidji triangular Mitch Bengston had his 150 Fall and Grant Nehring won his 150th Career Match. The Eagles turned in a very good performance with 156 points and nine place winners to earned third place at the Albany "Purple Pride" Invitational. Grant Dullinger, Matt Braun, Mitch Bengtson and Grant Nehring all won championships and Peter Nelson and Bryce Kirchner both earned third place. Nick Stram and Dylan Mehr both earned fourth place and Jared Morford took fifth place.



BRAINERD WARRIORS


They dropped a huge Central Lakes Conference dual to Section 8AAA rival St. Cloud Apollo 35-30. The Warriors have just about completed the regular season schedule. They did defeat Central Lakes Conference rival Rocori 52-25.



WILLMAR CARDINALS

The Cardinals had a very good showing at the Coon Rapids "Cardinals" Quadrangular with wins over AAA Maple Grove 46-23 and AAA Robbinsdale Armstrong 62-9. Nate Mittag, Alex Johannes, Seth Pollock and Cass Herzog were all 3-0 at Coon Rapids. They topped former Section 8AAA rivals Alexandria 52-27 and Moorhead 71-6. The Cardinals topped Section 6AAA rival Wayzata 43-19 and Central Lakes Conference rival Rocori 74-6 to close out a very successful regular season.



SARTELL SABRES

The Sabres topped Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA foe Alexandria 46-21. They had a great tournament performance with 212 points and twelve placing in the top four. Drew Bienusa and Dan Vitale both won championships Jon Pelach, Garret Counter, Quinn Anderson and Anthony Thene all earned second place. Brady Goebel, Jake Minor, Jed Anderson, Zach Pederson and Jake Fernholz all earned third place and Zach Motchske took fourth place. They won the championship at the Spectrum High School Invitational with this dominated performance. The dropped a dual to former section 6AA rival Becker 54-9. The Sabres topped AA Princeton 42-27 and they dropped a dual to Section 8AAA and No. 11AAA ranked Little Falls 53-15.

ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS

The Tigers topped a pair of AAA foes Elk River 36-31 and Blaine 36-31. They did dropped a big dual to cross town rival; Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA foe St. Cloud Apollo 43-27. The Tigers topped a pair of Section 7AAA foes; Elk River 36-31 and Blaine 36-31. They dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to Fergus Falls 57-17. The Tigers closed out the regular dual meet season with two big wins over Section 8AAA rivals; Moorhead 38-31, Bemidji 34-31.



MOORHEAD SPUDS

The Spuds topped Fargo South 46-23 a big cross town rival. They topped Wahpeton, ND to earn fifth place at the Fergus Falls "Pudge Anderson" Duals 39-36 and to AA Fergus Falls 29-27 in a very close dual. They dropped a dual to Section 8AAA rival Little Falls 53-21 in the qarterfinals. Jacob Rosites, Joe Carpenter, A. J. Wheeler and Chase Morlock were all 3-0 at the Fergus Falls duals. They topped Section 8AAA rival Alexandria 46-30 and dropped a dual to a former 8AAA rival Willmar 71-6. The Spuds had a very good tourney performance to earn fourth place with 121 points and nine place winners at the Alexandria "Big Ole" Invitational Joe Carpenter, A. J. Wheeler and Chase Morlock won championships. Jacob Rositas earned second, R. J. Olson and Tom Wychor both earned third place and Skyler Berry earned fourth place. Ryan Schock and Brenden Edner both took fifth place at the Big Ole. The Spuds topped a new cross town rival Fargo Davies 42-33. The Spuds topped Section 8AAA rival Bemidji 41-36 and dropped a big dual to Section 8AAA rival St. Cloud Tech 38-31.

BEMIDJI LUMBERJACKS


The Lumberjacks topped Class A rival Deer River 37-36. They dropped a pair of duals to Section 8AAA rival St. Cloud Apollo 42-12 and to No. 7A ranked Badger-Greenbush-Middle River 40-30. They earned sixth place at the Fergus Falls "Pudge Anderson" Duals with a win over Wahpeton 37-36 (criteria) they dropped duals to AA foe Dassel-Cokato 49-28 and to Section 8AA foe Fergus Falls 40-24. Kade Johnson was the lone Lumberjack that went 3-0 at the Anderson duals. They topped former Section 8AAA rival Rocori 31-28 and they dropped close duals to St. Cloud Tech 34-31 and Moorhead 41-36; both Section 8AAA rivals.


SAUK RAPIDS STORM

The Storm earned third place at the Spectrum invitational with 133 points and eight place winners. Chris Keske and Ryan Odelius both won championships and Austin Walz and Erik Olson both earned second place. McKay Ness earned third place and Sean Pearson earned fourth place and Randy Kutz took fifth place. They dropped a duals to Section 8AAA rival Little Falls 48-21 and to Central Lakes Conference rival Rocori 39-37.



ELK RIVER ELKS


The Elks topped conference rivals Centennial 41-28 and St. Francis 41-28; they dropped duals to conference foe Blaine 37-24 and to 8AAA St. Cloud Tech 36-31. They topped Saint Francis 41-28 and Centennial 34-32. The Elks topped Spring Lake Park in the quarter finals of the Blaine "Bengal" Duals 49-15 and they dropped a very close dual to Irondale 34-33. They dropped their fourth place match to Rosemount 33-29. The Elks topped Northwest Suburban Conference rival Park Center 60-10 to close out their regular season.

BUFFALO BISON

The Bison dropped a Mississippi 8 dual to rival Big Lake 46-23. They earned eighth place at the Totino Grace "Eagles" Invitational with 74.5 points and four place winners. Lucas Mock earned third place, Adam Treptau and Cedric Jiminez both earned fourth place and Andrew Mock took fifth place. The Bison went 1-2 at the their quadrangular with a win over Mississippi 8 Conference rival Zimmerman 36-24. They dropped duals to No. 3AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 53-15 and AA ranked Hutchinson 61-12. The Bison closed out their regular season with 107 points and six place winners to earn sixth place at the Mound-Westonka "White Hawk" Invitational. Lucas Mock and Tanner Maus both won championships and Cderic Jimenez and Jon Wirkkala both earned second place, Adam Treptau earned third place and Jason Forphal earned fourth place.

ROCORI SPARTANS

The Spartans dropped a Central Lakes conference dual to Brainerd 52-25 and they topped Sauk Rapids 39-37. They also lost to former Central Lakes Conference rival Little Falls 51-19. They dropped duals to Central Lakes Conference and Section 6AAA rival Willmar 74-6 and to another Section 6AAA foe Wayzata 57-15. They closed out their season as they dropped a pair of duals to former Section 8AAA foes Bemidji 32-28 and Moorhead 49-29.


ALEXANDRIA CARINDALS


The Cardinals topped Melrose/Sauk Centre 37-36 on criteria and they dropped a dual to Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rival Sartell 46-21. The Cardinals had a good tourney performance with 102 points and nine place winners to earn fifth place at the "Big Ole" Invitational. Trent Piepenburg, Gage Sonczalla and Justin Cumberbatch all earned second place and Jacob Schtligen earned third place. Blake Othausen, Tony Hubbard, Gaqnt Hockert and Dylan Kriesse all earned fourth place and Mike Schluter took fifth place. They closed out their regular season as they dropped a dual to Central Lakes Conference foe St. Cloud Tech 47-27.
