MAT RATS CLASS A SECTION 3 view 2010-2011

FAVORITES: MINNEOTA VIKINGS and KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS

The Vikings of Minneota have thirteen wrestlers from their 19-6 campaign that included a third place in Class A State, section champion and a Camden Conference Championship. They have a total of ten section place winners including five state qualifiers. Despite the graduation of four seniors including three section place winners they should make a strong challenge to defend their titles and possible challenge for a state championship. Christian Skillings (2nd State), Beau Buysse (3rd State), Josh Van Overbeke, Adam Josephson, Alex Lessman and T. J. Bueltel will be the Vikings key leaders.

The Fighting Saints of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg from a great 16-2 season that included being a section finalist. They have fifteen wrestlers returning with a great deal of experience including ten section place winners of which two were state qualifiers. Despite the graduation of five seniors; including state place winners and two section place winners, look for the Fighting Saints make a strong challenge in the section dual meet campaign and to defend many of their regular season titles. Klinton Van Heuveln, Jordan Rothers, Aaron Doraska and Trevor Mahlum to be their key leaders.

DARK HORSES: BOLD WARRIORS and the PIPESTONE AREA ARROWS

The Arrows of the Pipestone Area have back from their great 15-10 campaign and a final four performance a total of fourteen wrestlers with a lot of experience. The seven section place winners returning including two state qualifiers. Despite the graduation of five seniors that included one state qualifier and two section place winners, look for the Arrows to make a strong challenge in the section dual meet campaign and to improve on those dual meet marks. Jon Gorter (2nd State), Jaden Evans, Dylan Kor and Tyler Evans to be their key leaders.

The Warriors of BOLD have back from their 17-8 campaign that included the West Central South Conference Championship thirteen wrestlers with a great deal of experience. They have seven section place winners returning that includes two state qualifiers Despite the graduation of five seniors including a state champion, one state qualifier and two other section place winners they should challenge for section dual meet and conference honors. Alex Steffel (5th State), Jacob Revier, Brett O'Hallaron and Zach Revier should be the key leaders for the Warriors.

Look for the Lancers of Canby to challenge for a top four spot in the section. There are five state medal winners back from last season that includes: Christian Skillings (2nd State) and Beau Buysse (3rd State) of Minneota, Alex Steffel (5th State) of BOLD, Ted Berckes (5th State) of Canby, Jon Gorter (2nd State) of Pipestone Area. There are a total of fifteen returning state qualifiers from last year's state tourney action. Those not mentioned above are: Evan Knudson of Yellow Medicine East, Travis Longhenry of Canby and Matt Plumhoff of Benson.

Look for the following wrestlers: Andrew Swedinski and Blake Abraham of Minneota, Kyle Baker, Frederik Lorentzen and Zack Carlson of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Brett Grund of BOLD, Levi Specht and Derek Dyrdahl of Yellow Medicine East, John Deslauriers and Cedric Citrowske of Canby, Brady Bos of Pipestone Area, Morgan Staton, Joe Weber and Lamberto Rodriguez of Benson, Dominic Sweetman of Redwood Falls, Travis Fagen of Renville County West and Dillan Roggenbuck of Ortonville to challenge for medals at the end of the season.

The Fighting Saints of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg had a great season as they posted a 16-2 dual meet mark and earned the section runner up spot in the section 3A dual meet campaign. Back from that team are ten section place winners including two state qualifiers and six others with a great deal of experience. Despite the graduation of six seniors including four section place winners including a state champion and third place state medal they should challenge for a top four spot in the section dual meet campaign. They will hard pressed to challenge those dual meet marks from last season, but look for them to defend a number of those regular season honors. Jordan Rothers, Klinton VanHeuveln, Aaron Doraska, Trevor Mahlum, Kyle Baker, Zack Carlson, Lamberto Rodriguez and Jordan Engler to be their key leaders thru out the season.

Look for them to make a lot of improvement thru out the season and possible challenge for a top four spot in this section dual meet campaign. Evan Knudson, Derek Dyrdahl, Holden Sand and Levi Specht should be their key leaders this season.

But look for this young team to continue to improve during the course of the season and by season's end they could possibly challenge for a top four spot in the section dual meet campaign. Matt Plumhoff, Morgan Staton, Joe Weber, Brandon Hanson and Ben Lundebrek should be their leaders thru out the season.
