MAT RATS CLASS A SECTION4 2010-2011 Preview

FARVORITES: LAKE CRYSTAL-WELCOME-MEMORIAL KNIGTHS and ST. JAMES SAINTS

The Knights of Lake Crystal-Welcome-Memorial have back thirteen wrestlers from their outstanding season of 22-3, that included a fifth place in class A state, Section 4 championship and a Valley Conference championship. They will have twelve section place winners including six state qualifiers returning. They had one outstanding wrestler so look for the Knights to be make a strong challenge to defend their titles of last season. The Knights could be a strong one for a state title with their experience. Cody Tibbetts, Taner Trembley (4th State), Thomas Sandt, Nate Meixell, Dakota Yarger, Eric Hood and Matt Johnson to be their key leaders.

The Saints of St. James have back twelve wrestlers from their 19-3 season which include a section runner up and Conference Championships. They will have nine section place winners back that includes three state qualifiers. The Saints did graduate five very good seniors including two state qualifiers and two section place winners. Despite graduating those seniors look for the Saints to make a strong challenge for section dual meet honors and to defend the other championships from last season. Dylan Wright, Cody Hanson, Matt Westman and Dale McMullen will be their key leaders this season.

DARK HORES: LESUEUR-HENDERSON GIANTS and SIBLEY EAST WOLVERINES

The Giants of Lesueur-Henderson will have back from their 17-16 season nine wrestlers with a great deal of experience. The Giants will have eight section place winners including three state place winners. With the graduation of two seniors which includes a state place winner, look for the Giants to make a strong challenge for section dual meet honors. They should defend many of their regular season titles of last year. Josh Willaert (State Champion), Brett Pfarr (2nd State), Brett Schwartz (6th State) and Aaron Bruihler to be their key leaders.

The Wolverines of Sibley East have twelve wrestlers from their great season of 18-3. That included five section place winners that included two with state tourney experience. Despite the graduation of seven very good seniors including six section place winners look for the Wolverines to make a strong challenge for section dual meet honors. Aaron Bates (6th State), Caleb Ling and Tyler Pasvogel will be their leaders.

Look for the Raiders of Norwood Young America and the Wildcats of River Valley to challenge for a top four spot in the section. There are six state medal winners back from last season that includes: Josh Willaert (State Champion), Brett Pfarr (2nd State) and Brett Schwartz (6th State) of Lesueur-Henderson, Taner Trembley (4th State) of Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial, Aaron Bates (6th State) of Sibley East and Alex Cooling (5th State) Madelia-Truman.

There are a total of eighteen returning state qualifiers from last year's state tourney action. Those not mentioned above are: Jacob Anderson of River Valley, Adam Cooling of Madelia-Truman and Jaydon Grommersch of Nicollet.

Look for the following wrestlers: Spencer Yackel, Aaron Hutchins and Cole Bohnert of Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial, Angel Sota and Giovanni Alvarado of St. James, Nathan Rose of Sibley East, Chris Pfarr, Jacob Burt and Brent O'Connell of Lesueur-Henderson, Ben Rynda and Charlie Leighton of Trinity at River Ridge, Colby Salonek and Zach Streich of River Valley, Justin Stevens, Tim Swanson and Austin Kidrowski of Norwood-Young-America, Bryon Forstner of Madelia-Truman, Garrett Schmit of Nicollet and Caine Benford of Minneopolis Wasburn to challenge for medals at the end of the season.
