CENTRAL MINNESOTA MAT RATS EARLY JANUARY REPORT (17th Annual)

CLASS AA TEAMS

FOLEY FALCONS

The Falcons topped Granite Ridge Conference foe and No. 11AA Mora 46-18. They topped AAA foe Elk River in dominating fashion by a score of 55-9. They topped the field of teams at the Dassel-Cokato "Charger" Duals with convincing wins over No. 9AA Monticello 51-8, Section 6AA foe Dassel-Cokato 46-18 and AAA foe Shakopee 38-21. Tristan Manderfeld, Tyler Jensen, Nick Lefebvre, Chevy Gobel, Tony Kipka, Luke Kelvington, Tyer Bemboom and Taylor Lewandowski were 3-0 in the duals. The Falcons had an impressive showing at the Fargo "Rumble on the Red" Invitational with 184.5 points to earned fourth place in this 60 plus field of teams despite the fact they were missing two of their most experienced wrestlers. Tyler Funk (5-1), Taylor Lewandowski (4-1) and Tristan Manderfeld (4-1) all earned second place. Chevy Goble earned sixth place and was 6-3 over the weekend. Tyler Beehler earned seventh place and went 5-2, Nick Lefebvre earned seventh place and was 4-2 and Sam Olson earned seventh place and went 3-2 over the weekend. Tyler Bemboom took eighth place and was 3-3 over the weekend. The Falcons dominated the fourteen team field of teams at 2nd Annual Tom Keating Memorial Invitational with 303 points and all fourteen wrestlers placing in the top six. The Falcons won seven championship; Tyler Funk, Tristan Manderfeld, Tyler Jenson, Tyler Bemboom, Taylor Lewandowski, Nick Lefebvre and Tony Kipka. Sam Olson earned second place and a trio of thirds by Logan Lunde, Chevy Goble and Mitch Keeler. Teren Kampa earned fourth place, Tyler Beehler earned fifth place and Carter Nielsen took sixth place.


NEW LONDON-SPICER WILDCATS

The Wildcats topped three foes at the Dassel-Cokato "Charger" Duals with wins over AA Lean and Mean Becker 39-27, No. 9AA ranked Monticello 54-23 and Section 6AA rival Dassel-Cokato 52-12. Chase Austvold, Dylan Hanson, Tanner Tobkin, Jakob Stageberg, Kyle Cappelen and Trey Austvold were all 3-0 at the Charger duals. The Wildcats topped West Central Conference foe Minnewaska 71-6. The Wildcats had a good showing at the Fargo "Rumble on the Red" Invitational with 110 points to earned twelfth place in this 60 plus field of teams. Chase Austvold had a great tourney performance as he went 6-1 to earn third place. Tanner Tobkin had a very good tourney as he went 5-2 and earned fifth place. Thomas Stageburg went 4-2 and Corbin Schwartz was 3-2 but neither wrestler earned a place. The Wildcats dropped a very close dual to No. 3A ranked Kimball 33-28 and they defeated West Central North Conference rival Paynesville 61-20. The Wildcats defended their title at the Perham "Barrel O'Fun" Invitational with 236 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top five. Four championships were earned by Jacob Stageberg, Treyton Austvold, Chase Austvold and Dylan Hanson. Tanner Tobkin, Grant Vagle and Cameron Steffen all earned second place. Kyle Cappelen and David Nething both earned third place, Logan Brink earned fourth place and a pair fifths were earned by Oden Rogers and Ricky Berry.


DAWSON-BOYD/LQPV UNITED

The United had a great tourney performance with 161 points at the 28 team Redwood Valley “River Riot” Invitational to earned second place. They had seven wrestlers place in the top eight with John Weeding and Sam Hass both winning championships. J. D. Struxness and Brandon Schmidt both earned second place and Garth Ochsendorf earned third place. T. J. Fulton earned fourth place and Jordan Staab took eighth place. The United topped West Central South Conference and Section 3AA rival Morris Area 40-24. They split duals with ranked class A rivals as they topped No. 10 ranked Border West 54-17 and they lost to No. 8A ranked Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 36-24. The United dropped a very close dual to AAA Eden Prairie 36-33 and they topped West Central South Conference rival BOLD 42-24. The United Coop topped the field of teams at the Montevideo "Dave Roder Memorial" Invitational with 169.5 points and ten wrestlers placing in the top five. Sam Haas, Jordan Staab, T. J. Fulton, John Weeding, J. D. Struxness and Brandon Schmitt all won championships. Garth Oshsendorf earned second place and Juvernal Olvers earned third place. Jordan Bothun and Kieth Abraham both earned fourth place. John Weeding was voted by the Head Coaches as the Outstanding Wrestling and J. D. Struxness and Brandon Schmitt both won their 60th career matches. They topped three foes at their quadrangular with wins over three 3AA foes: Windom Area 43-30, Montevideo 48-27 and Fulda/MCC 45-19. T. J. Fulton, John Weeding, Garth Oschendorf, Sam Haas, Juvenal Olvera, J. D. Struxness and Brandon Schmitt were all 3-0 at the quadrangular.


MILACA WOLVES


The Wolves topped No. 9A ranked Pierz 47-16 and Section 7AA and Granite Ridge Conference foe Princeton 54-15. In a very good dual they topped Section 7AA rival Chisago Lakes 31-27. The Wolves ran into a hot AAA Lean and Mean St. Cloud Apollo team where they came up a little short 50-22. They flexed their muscles prior to the holiday break with huge wins over AAA Buffalo 59-12, AAA Spring Lake Park 51-17 and AA Orono 72-8 at the Buffalo “Bison” Quadrangular. Mike Hoffman, Jordan Ahner, Chris Newgard, Joe Moscho, Ray Hoffman, Joey Curtis, Jake Earl and Jonah Gahm were all 3-0 at the quadrangular. Special congratulations goes to Jonah Gahm as he won his 100th career match at the quadrangular. The Wolves started the 2012 portion of their schedule as they crushed Section 7AA foe Cloquet 80-0. They earned second place at the Farmington "Tiger" Duals with a quarterfinal win over Lake City 37-18 and in the semifinals they topped AAA Park High School 33-25. They dropped the championship to AAA Lean and Mean Lakeville North 37-29. Hunter Noor, Joey Curtis, Joe Moscho, Jonah Gahn and Justin Ladehoff were all 3-0 at the Farmington duals.


BECKER BULLDOGS


The Bulldogs have had some very impressive performances thus far coming without all their wrestlers in the lineup. They scored 119.5 points to earned fourth place at the fifteen team field event at the Brainerd “Paul Bunyan” Invitational with seven place winners. Colten Vekved and Luke Schmalz both earned third place and Zach Zimmer, Cory Nelson, Mike Soule and Brady Kurtz all earned fourth place. Jake Toedter earned fifth place and Mike Smith took seventh place. The Bulldogs topped Section 6AA neighbor Big Lake 38-24. They were very impressive at the Dassel Cokato “Charger” Duals even thou they went 1-2. They topped Section 6AA foe Dassel Cokato 43-25, before dropping duals to No. 5AA and Section 6AA New London-Spicer 39-27 soon to be ranked AAA foe Shakopee 39-29. Matt Sadlowsky, Colten Vekved and Jake Toedter won all their matches at the Charger Duals. They really flexed their pre-holiday muscles at the Melrose/Sauk Centre quadrangular, with wins over Granite Ridge Conference and No. 11AA rival Mora 39-25, Granite Ridge Conference foe Princeton 54-15 and Section 6AA rival Melrose/Sauk Centre 61-3. Cory Nelson, Luke Schmaltz, Colten Vekved, Mike Soule and Matt Sadlowsky all were 3-0 at the quadrangular. The Bulldogs had a very impressive showing at the Fargo "Rumble on the Red" Invitational with 112 points. This is a elite 60 plus field of teams, with many nationally ranked individuals. Mike Smith earned fourth place with a 7-2 mark for the weekend. Cory Nelson had a very impressive tourney as he earned seventh place with a 6-2 mark for the weekend. Mike Soule also had a great tournament performance as he earned sixth place with a 5-4 mark. Matt Sadlowsky earned seventh place with a 4-2 mark. Colton Vekved didn't place but he earned a 4-2 mark for the weekend. Congratulations to Matt Sadlwosky as he won his 75th career match at the Rumble on the Red. The Bulldogs had a very impressive tourney performance at the BBE Tourney with thirteen wrestlers placing in the top four to earn third place with 169.5 points. Colten Vekved had a very impressive showing to earn his championship. Matt Sadlowsky, Brady Kurtz, Zach Zimmer and Luke Schmalz all earned second places. Boden Lorette, Mike Smith, Mike Soule and Sam Kirchner all earned third places. Jake Toedter, Cody Ferris, Caleb Vekved and Cory Nelson all earned fourth places.


MORA MUSTANGS


The Mustangs have had strong showings with big wins over Section 7AA rival North Branch 56-18, Class A neighbor Mille Lacs 58-17. They dropped a dual to No. 2AA ranked and Granite Ridge Conference rival Foley 46-18. The Mustangs were 2-1 at the Melrose/Sauk Centre quadrangular with big wins over Section 7AA and Granite Ridge Conference foe Princeton 50-25 and Section 6AA foe Melrose/Sauk Centre 60-7. They dropped a dual to soon to be ranked AA Becker 39-25. Thomas Hischer, Brandon Lucking and Ken Kastenbauer were all 3-0 at the quadrangular. The Mustangs split a pair of duals as they crushed Albany 69-9 and lost to No. 10A ranked Pierz 36-31. The Mustangs had a great tourney with 216 points and thirteen wrestlers placing in the top five to earned the championship of the Mustang Invitational. Ken Kastenbauer and Brent Nelson both earned championships. Brandon Lucking, Jordan Tober and Austin Richard all earned second place. Nick Kastenbauer and Brady Beier both earned third place. Drew VanVlett, Tom Hischer, Blake Poole, Reed Gmahl and Zach Smith all earned fourth place and Eric Podvin took fifth place.


MONTICELLO MAGIC


The Magic are having a bit of a struggle against some quality teams; they dropped a dual to Mississippi 8 Conference and No. 2AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 51-18. They went 0-3 at the Dassel-Cokato “Charger” Duals; they lost to soon to be ranked Shakopee 49-15, No. 2AA ranked Foley 51-15 and No. 5AA ranked New London-Spicer 50-30. Tevin Zavadil was the lone Magic wrestler that was 3-0 at the Charger Duals. The Magic topped Mississippi 8 Conference rival Buffalo 53-18 and they dropped a dual to No. 2AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 51-18. They earned fifth place at the 2nd Annual Foley "Tom Keating Memorial" Invitational with 121.5 points. Eric Bourgeois and Nic Grimley both won championships and Zach Beaumaster earned second place. Ross Henderson earned fourth place and Tevin Zavadil took fifth place.


CHISAGO LAKES WILDCATS


The Wildcats have had some very impressive performances thus far with a big win over North Suburban Conference rival Fridley 66-17; they lost a very close dual to Moundsview 34-36. They did drop a very close dual to Section 7AA rival and No. 8 ranked Milaca 31-27. The Wildcats had a great tourney showing by earning second place with 170 points and ten place winners at their “Wildcat” Invitational. Dylan Connell, Quade Zupko and Chase Kammerer all won championships. Kyle Schoenecker, Mark Sontag and Joe Virga all earned second place. Bobby Sontag and Jonah Westburg both earned third place and Nathan Grave earned fourth place. William Pool earned fifth place and Joe Valento and Kevin Schmidt both took sixth place. They split duals as they topped North Suburban Conference rival Irondale 36-33 and they lost to Lean and Mean New Richland-Heartland-Ellendale-Geneva 49-18.


STAPLES-MOTLEY CARDINALS


The Cardinals had an excellent tourney performance with 138.5 points and six place winners to earn third place at this thirty-two team event at the Cass Lake “Big Bear” Invitational. Blake Petrich won their lone championship and David DeYonge earned second place. Blaine Miller earned third place and Brent Lisson and Jordan Heldman both earned fourth place and Gage Brown took eighth place. The Cardinals topped Class A Section 6A rival Ottertail Central 47-28. The Cardinals are battling thru sickness, injuries and vocations at this point. They dropped a pair of Mid-State Conference duals and Section 8AA rivals Pequot Lakes/Pine River/Backus 48-24 and Park Rapids 49-28.

FERGUS FALLS OTTERS


The Otters of Fergus Falls had a great dual against a very good Section 8AAA, Central Lakes Conference foe, soon to be acknowledged in our Lean and Mean Sartell 37-29. They dropped two very close duals to Central Lakes Conference foes Brainerd 39-28 and Willmar 35-28. Both teams should also get some close looks as terms of ratings. The Otters earned 96.5 points at the Cass Lake “Big Bear” Invitational, a thirty-two team event, to earned twelfth place with four place winners. Abbot Aho and Matt Laugen both earned second place and Justinn Polejewski earned sixth place and Hayden Zenner took seventh place. The Otters are getting a few of their wrestlers back in the lineup. They had a great tourney performance as they earned 228 points and had all fourteen wrestlers place in the top five to win the championship at the Benson "Braves Classic" Invitational. Abbot Aho, Tyler Giza and Hayden Zenner won championships. Alex Johnson, Matt Laugen and Abram Aho all earned second place and Dave Ringquist, Walker Heinen, Justin Polejewski and Gus MaKovsky all earned third place. Ben Schindler earned fourth place and Coy Thorson, Karlen Hartwall and Tommy Weaver all took fifth place.

DASSEL-COKATO CHARGERS


The Chargers topped Wright County Conference rivals Delano 46-21. They played host to a quadrangular and they came away with two very good wins over Wright County Conference rival Glencoe-Silver Lake 44-27 and Section 6AA rival Big Lake 47-24. They dropped a dual to former Wright County foe now Minnesota Conference member Watertown-Mayer 39-30. Brient Pokornowski, Alex Bopp, Spencer Broberg and Andrew Madson were all 3-0 at the Charger quadrangular. The Chargers dropped a Wright County Conference dual to Hutchinson 50-15. They had a good tourney showing with 126 points to earn fourth place at the 2nd Annual Foley "Tom Keating Memorial" Invitational with seven place winners. Brient Pokornowski won the championship at 285 and Andrew Madson earned second place. Brett Abrahamson earned third place, Alex Bapp earned fourth place and Tom Keskey and Tarren Nordstrom both took fifth place at this fourteen team field of teams.


ROCKFORD ROCKETS


The Rockets had a good showing as they topped AA neighbor and huge rival Delano 51-19. They flexed their muscles with two big wins over Section 5AA rival Fridley 46-21 and class A foe Minneapolis Patrick Henry 57-18. They topped Central Minnesota Conference rival Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 35-32. The Rockets dominated the field of team at the Brooklyn Center "Centeur" Invitational with 250 points thirteen wrestlers placing in the top five. Five championships were won by John Redepenning, Adam Jakubowski, Ty Griffin, Brad Johnson and Daniel Paine. Danny Lynch and Zach Klonne both earned second place and Sasha Galka and Zach Johnson both earned third place. Colten Weber and Olek Galka both took fifth place. Congratulations to Ty Griffin as he was voted by the coaches as the Outstanding wrestler for the tourney.


PEQUOT LAKES/PINE RIVER/BACKUS ROAD CREW

The Road Crew flexed their muscles at the Nashwauk-Keewatin-Greenway Brawl with wins over three Section 7AA foes over host Nashwauk-Keewatin 42-32, Hibbing 61-15 and Virginia 71-9. Anthony Philipson, Triston Rubner, Drey Loge, Darian Rubner and Peter Harrison were all 3-0 at the Brawl. They earned fifth place with 135.5 points at the Cass Lake “Big Bear” Invitational with five places winners. This is a thirty-two team field of teams. Peter Harrison won their lone championship and Anthony Philipson earned second place. Darian Rubner earned third place, Drey Loge earned fifth place and Justin MacKunthun took sixth place. The Road Crew got the 2012 portion of their schedule with two big Mid-State Conference wins over Detroit Lakes 39-32 and Wadena-Deer Creek 58-13. The Road Crew topped two more Mid-
State Conference foes with big wins over Staples 48-24 and Park Rapids 51-16. These are also three big Section 8AA wins just the past week for the Crew.


MORRIS AREA/HANCOCK/CHOKIO ALBERTA TIGERS


The Tigers dropped a West Central South Conference dual to No. 10AA ranked Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley 40=24. The topped Class A Breckenridge 45-32. The Tigers scored 88.5 points to earned fourteenth place at the Cass Lake “Big Bear” Invitational. In this field of thirty-two teams they had three place winners; including Tim Ostby and Zach Gibson both earning second place and Joel Harrison earning seventh place. The Tigers started their portion of the 2012 schedule with a pair huge wins over West Central South Conference rivals Yellow Medicine South 43-15 and Minnewaska 57-12.


CLASS A TEAM


KIMBALL CUBS


The Cubs topped Central Minnesota Conference rival Holdingford 45-18 and AAA Central Lakes Conference foe 60-9. The Cubs defended their title at the Frazee “Les Kertscher” Duals with huge wins over AA Lean and Mean Perham 46-15 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals they topped No. 3 ranked Minneota 35-26 in a very good dual. In the championship they defeated the same team that just got by them in the state tourney last year and No. 6A ranked Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial 39-22. Quentin Bryce, Alex Thurber, Tanner Mills, Quinten Berres, Mitchell McKee and Jordan Joseph were all 3-0 at the Kertscher Duals. The Cubs topped New London-Spicer No. 5AA ranked in a very close dual 33-28 and Section 5A rival and Lean and mean Paynesville 69-9. Congratulations to Alex Thurber on winning his 100th Career Match. They had a great tournament performance with 207.5 points and ten wrestlers placing in the top five to earn the championship of the Cannon Falls "Bombers" Invitational. The Cubs won four championships; Mitchell McKee, Tanner Mills, Travis Schiefelbein and Quentin Bryce. Quinten Berres, Marcus Hamer, Jordan Joseph and Alex Thurber earned second place. Travis Wills and Austin Schiefelbein both took fifth place.

ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY FALCONS

The Falcons topped two section 5A foes with very impressive performances over Belgrate-Brooten-Elrosa 48-13 and Eden Valley-Watkins 59-7. They flexed their preholiday muscles for dominating performance in their win over West Central South Conference rival Yellow Medicine East 68-4. The Falcons turned a few heads at the National Duals "The Clash" Invitational where they upset No. 15 nationally ranked Carl Sandburg, Illinois 34-29. They lost the flip and maybe they would have topped another ranked team No. 9 nationally ranked Christiansburg, Virginia slipped by the Falcons 35-31. They did drop their second dual of the first of the two day tourney to one of the topped ranked Georgia teams Jefferson 36-32. The Falcons dropped a dual to No. 1 (Div. 2) Luxemburg-Casco, Wisconsin 40-26 and to No. 2AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 43-21. They did complete the tourney with an excellent team effort as they topped 6AAA ranked Coon Rapids 45-18. Larry Bomstad and James Nelson were both 6-0 and Matt Meyer was 5-1. Hayden Rouser, Tyler Berghuis, Lee Whitcomb and Marverich Whitcomb were all 4-2 and Jordan Fester was 3-3 at the National Duals. The Falcons topped West Central South Conference foe Benson 68-3. Congratulations to Hayden Rouser as he won his 175th career Match, Larry Bomstad won his 100th Career Match at The Clash and James Nelson won his 75th Career Match at The Clash. The Falcons crushed West Central Conference rival Benson 68-3.

KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS

The Fighting Saints had a very good performance at the Riverwood Valley “River Riot” Invitational where they earned third place in a strong field of twenty-eight teams. They score 149 points which included seven place winners. Jordan Rothers won their lone championship along with a trio of third place; Jordan Engler, Jessie Engler and Cody Peters. Zach Carlson earned fourth place, Lamberto Rodriquez earned seventh place and Kyle Baker took eighth place. The Fighting Saints topped No. 11A Border West 42-30 and No. 10AA ranked Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley 36-24. They really flexed their muscles before the holiday break with two big wins over Section 3A rivals Benson 66-12 and Ortonville 60-9. They topped AA rival Litchfield 56-13 and Section 3A rival MAC/RCW 62-12. The Fighting Saints had a very solid tourney performance with 201 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top four to win the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Invitational No. 4A ranked Minneota and huge Section 3A rival by just 1.5 points. They won four championships; Jordan Engler, Cody Peters, Jessie Engler and Jordan Rothers. Having great performances were Lamberto Rodriquez, Zach Carlson, Isaac Froelich and Nick Meyer; they earned second place. Jared Krieger and Kyle Baker both earned third place at Belgrade.

PIERZ PIONEERS

The Pioneers topped section 7A foes in dominating fashion with wins over Royalton 46-22, Crosby-Ironton 68-3. They did have a very close dual with Section 7A rival and Lean and Mean foe Aitkin 37-33. The Pioneers split duals with a pair of AA rivals; they topped Princeton 52-21 and they lost to No. 8AA Milaca 47-16. Congratulations goes out Nathan Tomala he won his 100th career match during the Aitkin dual. The Pioneers topped No. 11AA ranked Mora 36-31 and AA Albany 57-17. The Pioneers also topped AAA Lean and Mean rival Little Falls 44-32 and AA Litchfield 40-27.

BORDER WEST BUCCANEERS


The Buccaneers earned sixth place at the Frazee “Les Kertscher” Duals with a consolation semifinal win over AAA Bemidji 44-36. They dropped their quarterfinal dual to No. 7A ranked Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial 42-22 and soon to be ranked AAA Brainerd 45-30. Cameron Sykora, Austin Maanum and Charlie Maanum were all 3-0 at the Kertscher Duals. They dropped a pair of duals to ranked foes No. 10AA ranked Dawson-Boyd/LQPV 54-17 and to No. 8A Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 42-30. The Buccaneers earned 102 points to tie for third place at the Montevideo "Dave Roder Memorial" Invitational with eight place winners. Charlie Maanum, Austin Maanum and Cameron Sykora all won championships. Gus McCarthy earned second place and Peter Schmitz earned third place. Nick Stafford and Seth Callerilus both earned fourth place and Chalmer Combellich took fifth place. The Buccaneers earned 148.5 points to take third place at the Benson "Braves Classic" Invitational with nine wrestlers placing in the top five. Three championships were won by: Cameron Sykora, Gus McCarthy and Austin Maanum. Tracer Lee earned second place and Peder Schmitz earned third place. Nick Stafford and Chalmer Combelick both earned fourth place and Jakobe Goniwicha and Seth Callenius both took fifth place.


HOLDINGFORD HUSKIERS

The Huskiers have had some very impressive showings with huge wins over AA Melrose/Sauk Centre 54-25 and three Section 5A foes Osakis 53-21, Long-Prairie/Grey Eagle 51-24 and Minnewaska 61-15. They dropped a dual to No. 5A ranked Kimball 45-18. The Huskiers had a good tourney performance with 121.5 points to earn fifth place at the 2nd Annual Foley "Tom Keating Memorial" Invitational. Nine wrestlers placed in the top six in this fourteen team field of teams. Mike Jarnot won a championship at 138 with a win over the No. 5AAA ranked wrestler. Mitch Messman earned second place and a trio fourths were earned by: Zach Scott, Kyle Gerads and Mitch Merten. Trevor Scott and Kyle Kolstad both earned fifth place and Malcolm Dewar and Adam Lane both sixth place.

PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs topped Section 5A foes Long Prairie/Grey Eagle 43-22 and Lean and Mean Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 38-21. They topped two West Central North Conference foes Melrose/Sauk Centre 43-25 and Albany 48-28. The Bulldogs dropped two duals to No. 3A ranked Kimball 69-9 and to West Central Conference rival New London-Spicer 61-12. The Bulldogs earned fifth place at the Farmington "Tiger" Duals. They dropped their quarterfinal dual to AAA Lean and Mean Lakeville North 39-28, in the Consolation semifinals they topped AAA Northfield 57-18 and in the fifth place dual they topped Section 1A foe Lake City 35-34. Jared Kuntsleben, Josh Hiepler and Dominick Platou were all 3-0 at the Tiger Duals.

BELGRADE-BROOTEN-ELROSA JAGUARS


The Jaguars topped Section 5A and Central Minnesota Conference rival Eden Valley-Watkins 40-27 and AA rival Melrose/Sauk Centre 45-27. They dropped a pair of duals to Section 5A foes No. 7A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 48-13 and Paynesville 38-21. The Jaguars dropped a very close dual to Central Minnesota Conference rival Rockford 35-32. They earned fourth place at their Inivitational with 90 points and six wrestlers placing in the top four. Patrick Rooney had a great tourney performance to win a championship at 170. Tyler Tensen, Daniel Rooney and Dillon Knutson all had great tournaments to earn second place. Austin Jaeger and Matt Schmitz both earned fourth place.

AITKIN GOBBLERS

The Gobblers earned seventh place at the Cass Lake “Big Bear” Invitational. They earned 125.5 points at this thirty-two team event with five place winners. Jordan Chouanard won a championship at 152 and Cooper Blau and Brian Wold earned fourth place. Isaac Novak earned sixth place and Colton LaPlante took seventh place. The Gobblers spit a pair of Section 7A duals as they topped Ogilvie 67-9 and lost to No. 10A Pierz 37-33 in a very close dual. They earned second place with 181 points and eleven place winners to earned second place at the Mora "Mustang" Invitational. Jerod Novak and Jordan Chouanard both won championships and Brian Wold and Isaac Novak both earned second place. Colton Laplante, Adam Jackson, Adam Bast and Alan Bast all earned third place. Jack Braton, Noah Landrus and Anthony Ashton all took fifth place.

NEW YORK MILLS EAGLES

The Eagles topped Park Region Conference rivals United North Central 36-29 and Parkers Prairie. They also topped Section 6A rival Pelican Rapids. They lost to AA Park Rapids with the aid of a couple of forfeits 42-36. The Eagles earned 75 points at the Cass Lake “Big Bear” Invitational to take nineteenth place with four place winners. Shane Novak won a championship at 113 and Maison Roberts and Tyler Patron both earned fourth place and Mike Meyer took eighth place. They flexed their pre-holiday muscles with huge wins over a pair of Section 6A teams; Parkers Prairie 42-12 and Pelican Rapids 62-12. The Eagles had a pair wins over a pair of Park Region Conference foes Royalton 40-31 and West Central Area 57-18. They earned 104 points with five wrestlers placing in the top five to take sixth place at the Perham "Barrel O'Fun" Invitational. Shane Novak won a championship at 113 beating a previously undefeated wrestler. Max Carlson earned second place, Jeremiah Harper and Noah Pesola earned fourth place and Austin Haman took fifth place.

UNITED NORTH CENTRAL WARRIORS

The Warriors topped a pair of Park Region Conference rivals Browerville/Eagle Bend 51-21 and Osakis 51-24. They dropped a very close dual to Park Region Conference rival New York Mills 36-29. The Warriors earned 75 points for nineteenth place with four place winners. Jake Malone earned fourth place, Taylor Carlson sixth place and Tommy Tellers and Max Pajari both took seventh place. The Warriors earned 89 points and five wrestlers place in the top five to take ninth place at the Perham "Barrel O'Fun" Invitational. Max Pajari,Tommy Tellers and Taylor Carlson all earned third place and Jake Malone earned fourth place. Mike Johnson and Dylan Huttunen both took fifth place.

BERTHA-HEWITT/VERNDALE RAIDERS


The Raiders dropped a pair of duals to Section 6A foes to Lean and Mean Barnesville 45-27 and to West Central Area 42-30. The Raiders earned 82 points and have wrestlers place in the top five to take fifth place at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Invitational. Dillon Card and Colin Turchin both won champinships and Andrew Bounds earned third place. Justin Gordan and Dalton Baker both earned fourth place.

BRECKENRIDGE COWBOYS


The Cowboys dropped a dual to AA Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio-Alberta 45-32. The Cowboys topped Heart of Lakes Conference rival Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 38-33. They topped section 6A rival Barnesville 39-28 and AA foe United Clay Becker 48-24 and Section 6A foe Parkers Prairie 51-24.

BOLD WARRIORS

The Warriors scored 75 points at the Redwood Valley “River Riot” Invitational to earn fifteenth place with four place winners. Sean Wiebel earned third place, Brady Zitzman earned sixth place and Benny Garcia and Brett Grund both took seventh place. They dropped duals to soon to be ranked AAA Eden Prairie 43-23 and to AA Marshall 36-27. They lost to Section 3A rival and No. 3A ranked Minneota 56-13. The split a pair of pre-holiday duals to; they topped AAA Lean and Mean Eden Prairie 43-23 and they lost to No. 12AA ranked Dawson-Boyd/LQPV 48-16.


CLASS AAA TEAM

SAINT MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS

The Knights had a great tourney performance with 181 points and eight place winners to earn third place at the Minnesota “Christmas” Invitational hosted by Rochester. At this thirty-two team event Tommy Thorn and Cole Sladek both won championships. Nick Edling and Lincoln Mallinger both earned second place, Mark Voss and Mitchell Eull both earned third place. Michael Kessler earned fifth place and Wayne Voss took seventh place. The Knights topped Mississippi 8 Conference and No. 9AA ranked Monticello 51-18. They did dropped a dual to a very good No. 3AA ranked Scott West 33-25. The Knights had a good showing at the National Duals "The Clash" with a 4-2 mark to win the D division. They topped No. 1 ranked in Idaho, Lewiston 36-26, No. 7AAA ranked Coon Rapids 43-20, No. 6A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 43-21 and No. 1ranked Div. 2 Luxemburg-Casco, Wisconsin 45-21. They did drop duals to National ranked and No. 1AA Simley 39-21 and to No. 6AAA Forest Lake 30-24. Tommy Thorn was 6-0, Wayne Voss 5-0, Nick Edling 6-0, Mitchell Eull 5-1, Cole Sladek 5-1, Lincoln Mallinger 5-1, Mark Voss 4-2, Aaron Dick 4-2 and Michael Kessler was 3-3 for the weekend.




CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BLUE JACKETS

The Blue Jackets earned ninth place at the Minnesota “Christmas” Invitational hosted by Rochester with 117.5 points and six place winners. Cody Skog earned third place, Travis Holt and Clayton Jennissen both place fourth. Tyler Tischer and Ty Torgerson both earned fifth place. Special congratulations to Clayton Jennissen as he won his 150th Career Match at the Christmas tourney. Tyler Tischer won his 100th Career Match at the Rumble on the Red. The Blue Jackets topped Mississippi 8 Conference foe Rogers 53-19. They crushed section 7AAA rival Anoka 53-15. They had a great tourney performance where they earned 220 points and all fourteen wrestlers placed in the top six to win the championship on their invitational. Clayton Jennissen, Ty Torgerson, Dakota Johnson and Tommy Guy all won championships. Nate Nussit, Travis Holt and Cole Bakke all earned second place, Monty Fredericksen, Nate Medin and Ben Hartnett all earned third place. Tanner Torgerson and Trent Chromy both earned fourth place, C. J. Schlichtman earned fifth place and Jon Knowlton took sixth place.

LITTLE FALLS FLYERS


The Flyers topped Section 8AAA and former Central Lakes Conference rival Brainerd 34-32 in a very exciting dual. They topped a pair of 6AA teams; Big Lake 36-28 and Zimmerman 81-0. The Flyers started their portion of the 2012 season with a pair of huge wins over Section 8AAA foes as they topped Bemidji 45-27 and Alexandria 61-12. The Flyers dropped a pair of duals to No. 10A ranked Pierz 44-32 and to AA Litchfield 34-32. They had a good tourney performance as they earned 160 points and had ten wrestlers place in the top six to take fourth place at the Cambridge-Isanti "Blue Jacket" Invitational. Dillon Kifer won a championship, Justin Jenks, Axel Lange, Connor Scherping and Conor Swanson all earned second place. Luke Lodermier and Trysten Ross both earned third place and Jordan Petron earned fourth place. Adam Grams earned fifth place and Tyler Gastecki took sixth place.

SAINT CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES


The Eagles really flexed their preholiday muscles as they crushed three foes including No. 8AA ranked Milaca 50-22. They also topped two Central Lakes Conference foes Alexandria 55-18 and Rocori 58-24. They had a great tourney performance as they scored 136 points and had six wrestlers in the top five places to earn third place at the 2nd Annual Foley "Tom Keating Memorial" Invitational. Mitch Bengtson and Nam Nguyen both won championships and Grant Dehring and Grant Dullinger both earned second place. Nick Stram had a great tourney earning third place and Matt Braun took fifth place in this fourteen field of teams.

BRAINERD WARRIORS


The Warriors had a very strong showing to earn fifth place at the Frazee “Les Kertscher” Duals. They dropped their quarterfinal dual to the No. 3A ranked Minneota 55-15. They defeated AA Lean and Mean Perham 31-29 in a very impressive performance and No. 10A Border West 45-30 for fifth place. Jace Engelman was their lone 3-0 wrestler at the Kertscher duals. The Warriors topped Section 8AAA and Central Lakes Conference rival St. Cloud Tech 42-19. They had a great tourney performance with 160.5 points and ten wrestlers placing in the top five to earn third place at the Cambridge-Isanti "Blue Jacket" Invitational. Luke Boran and Casey Beiver both earned championships and Nate Adam earned second place. Jeff Flickinger, Levi Rubin and Sam Adams all earned third place. Josh Schultz and Shane White both earned fourth place and Dan Babineau and Jake Zelinske both took fifth place.


SARTELL SABRES


The Sabres topped two Section 8AAA and Central Lakes Conference rivals Sauk Rapids 43-29 and St. Cloud Tech 45-27. Dan Vitale won his 60th career match at the Sauk Rapids dual. They did drop a Central Lakes Conference dual 37-29 in a very good Fergus Falls team. They earned ninth place at the River Riot tourney even with 101.5 points and four place winners. Josh Halicke won the championship at 145, Daniel Vitale earned second place, Brady Goebel earned fourth place and Nick Jensen took sixth place at the Redwood Valley “River Riot” Invitational. The Sabres dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to Willmar 60-14. They had a great tournament performance at Olgilvie with 217 points and thirteen wrestlers placing in the top five. Daniel Vitale, Brady Goebel, Antone Thene and Jed Anderson all won championships. Nick Jensen and Abe Anderson both earned second place and Jake Fernholz, Garret Counter and Jake Miner all earned third place. Kyle Karolous, Joe Pelach and Sam Krauel all earned fourth place and Zach Motschke took fifth place.


WILLMAR CARDINALS


The Cardinals had a great performance as they defeated Central Lakes Conference rival St. Cloud 44-32 and Section 6AAA foe Buffalo 48-27. They dropped a pair of very close duals to Central Lakes Conference rivals Brainerd 37-31 and Fergus Falls 35-28. The Cardinals had a great tourney as they earned fourth place at the Cass Lake “Big Bear” Invitational a thirty-two field of teams. With six place winners scoring 136.5 points including Alex Johannes earned second place, Seth Pollock earned third place. Nate Mittag and Logan Walkow both earned fourth place and Austin Miley and Colten Carlson both took fifth place. The Cardinals earned fourth place at the Montevideo "Dave Roder Memorial" Invitational with 91.5 points. They held out five of their started due to match count for this event. Austin Milley won their lone championship and Cass Herzog earned second place. Chad Milhausen, Shawn Johnson and Qugustine Hahn all earned third place. Zach Lueders earned fourth place and Levi Milhausen and Travis Deegan both took fifth place. The Cardinals topped Central Lakes Conference foe Sartell 60-14.

BEMIDJI LUMBERJACKS


The Lumberjacks dropped a pair of duals to No. 7AA Thief River Falls 38-36 and No. 12AA Grand Rapids 33-28. They had a good showing despite only getting eighth place at the Frazee ““Les Kertscher” Duals. They entered this tourney with two open weights, in the quarterfinals to lost to the No. 2A ranked Frazee 55-13. In the consolation semifinals they lost a close dual to No. 11A Border West 44-36 and for seventh place AA Lean and Mean 55-20. Logan Crsoby and Brian Maas were both 3-0 at the Kertscher duals. The Lumberjacks split a pair of Section 8AAA duals as they topped Alexandria 35-30 and they dropped a dual to Little Falls 45-27. They earned third place at the Hibbing "Blue Jacket" Duals with wins over Nashwauk-keewatin 46-24 and Princeton 49-19. They dropped matches to Chisago Lakes 37-29 and to No. 11AAA Centennial 44-22. For the Lumberjacks Brian Maas, Logan Crosby and Kade Johnson were all 4-0 and Craig Maas, Alex Johnson and Brenden Fredrickson were all 3-1 at the Hibbing duals.

MOORHEAD SPUDS


The Spuds dropped duals to Class A Lean and Mean Barnesville 34-31 and to No. 1A in North Dakota and Nationally Ranked West Fargo 50-19. The Spuds topped cross town rival Fargo North 35-28.The Spuds had a good tournament performance with 144.5 points and seven wrestlers placing in the top five to earn fourth place at the Perham "Barrel O'Fun" Invitational. Jacob Rositas and Chase Morlock both won championships and Kenny Mark, A. J. Wheeler and Joe Carpenter all earned second place. Mike Zupan earned third place and Tom Wychor earned fourth place.

ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS


The Tigers dropped two Central Lakes Conference duals to Willmar 44-32 and Sartell 45-27. They did top Central Lakes Conference rival Sauk Rapids 36-32 in a very good dual. The Tigers topped former Section 8AAA foe; now Section 6AAA Buffalo 39-32. Central Minnesota Conference rival Brainerd 42-19. The Tigers earned 90.5 points at the Mora "Mustangs" Invitational with five wrestlers placing in the top four places to take sixth place. Jerrad Nieland won their only championship at 285 and Martin Maurice and Bryant Amundson both earned third place. Brouwer Brady and Noah Voigt both earned fourth place at the Mora tourney.


SAUK RAPIDS STORM


The Storm topped Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA foe Alexandria 43-27. They also dropped two very close duals to Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rivals Sartell 42-29 and St. Cloud Tech 36-32. They dropped to duals to No. 5A ranked Kimball 60-9 and to Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rival St. Cloud Apollo 53-28. The Storm earned 83 points and had five place winners at the Foley "Tom Keating Memorial" Invitational to take tenth place in a field of fourteen teams. Erik Olson and Chris Keske both earned second place and Dalton Siemers earned third place. McKay Ness and Sean Pearson both took sixth place.

ELK RIVER ELKS


The Elks dropped duals to Northwest Suburban Conference rivals Osseo 41-30 and to Champlin Park 40-22. They did topped Robbinsdale Armstrong in Conference action. They lost to the No. 2AA ranked Foley 55-9 and to Northwest Suburban Conference rival Maple Grove 34-33. The Elks earned 72 points and had four place winners in the top five to take seventh place at the Cambridge-Isanti "Blue Jacket" Invitational. Evan Caldon earned first place, Mitch Beaudry earned second place, Ryan Osburg earned fourth place and Kyle Wieman took fifth place.


BUFFALO BISON


The Bison dropped duals to Section 6AAA foes Willmar 48-27 and Hopkins 45-23. They also dropped a very close dual to former Section 8AAA rival St. Cloud Tech 39-32. They topped two foes at their quadrangular with big wins over Orono 69-12 and Spring Lake Park 54-25. They dropped a dual to No. 8AA ranked Milaca 59-12, they had two wrestlers that were 3-0 at the quadrangular; Tanner Maus and Adam Treptua. The Bison dropped a dual to Mississippi 8 Conference rival Monticello 53-18. They earned 78 points and had five wrestlers place in the top six at the Foley "Tom Keating Memorial" Invitational to take eleventh place. Lucas Mock and Tanner Maus both earned third place, Cedric Jimenez earned fourth place, Adam Treptua earned fifth place and Jonathan Wirkkala took sixth place.

ROCORI SPARTANS

The Spartans split a pair of Central Lakes Conference duals; they topped Alexandria in a very exciting dual 40-33 and they fell a little short against St. Cloud Apollo 58-24. They scored 49 points and had two place winners at the Redwood Valley "River Riot" Invitational. Jordan Hemmesch earned second place Zavier Gropper took eighth place. The Spartans topped Class A rival Eden Valley-Watkins.

ALEXANDRIA CARINDALS

The Cardinals dropped three Central Lakes Conference duals to Sauk Rapids 43-27, Rocori 40-33 and St. Cloud Apollo 55-18. They earned fourteenth place at the Redwood Valley "River Riot" Invitational with 78 points and three place winners. Trent Piepenburg earned second place and Tony Hubbard and Justin Cumberbatch both earned fourth place. The Cardinals dropped a pair of Section 8AAA duals to Bemidji 35-30 and to Little Falls 61-12. They had two place winners at the Foley "Tom Keating Memorial" Invitational. Trent Piepenburg earned second place and Tony Hubbard earned fifth place.
