CENTRAL MINNESOTA MAT RATS EARLY DECEMBER REPORT (17th Annual)

CLASS AAA


SAINT MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS


The Knights topped the field of team at their invitational with 236.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top five. Tommy Thorn, Aaron Dick, Mark Voss, Mitchell Eull and Nick Edling all won championships and Michael Kessler and Wayne Voss took second. Colton Schoen, Lincoln Mallinger, Jake Briggs, Thor Hulstad and Ricky Briggs all earned third place for the Knights. The Knights topped Mississippi 8 and AA Lean and Mean foe Becker 40-21. The Knights topped the teams at the Coon Rapids "Cardinal" Duals with wins over Minneapolis South in the quarterfinals 70-4, Ellsworth, WIS., 42-13 and Section 7AAA rival Cambridge-Isanti 40-28. Aaron Dick, Cole Sladek, Lincoln Mallnger, Nick Edling and Mike Kessler were all unbeaten at the Cardinal duals.


CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BLUEJACKETS


The Jackets opened up their 2011-2012 campaign with a pair of strong showings. They topped two teams at the White Bear Lake Quadrangular. They defeated Moorhead 52-19 and White Bear Lake 45-22 before dropping a dual to No. 2AA ranked Scott West 44-19. Tyler Tischer, Travis Holt, Clayton Jennissen and Jon Knowlton were all 3-0 at the quadrangular. The Bluejackets won the Chisago Lake "Wildcats" duals with wins over Rosemount 55-14 in the quarterfinals, No. 11AA ranked Mora Mustangs 44-22 and Lean and Mean Kenyon-Wanamingo 48-18 for the championship. Jon Knowlton, Travis Holt, Cole Bakke, Dakota Johnson and Clayton Jennissen were all 3-0. The Bluejackets topped Mississippi 8 Conference foe Buffalo 65-12. They earned second place at the Cardinal duals with wins over Mounds View 48-22 and Section 7AAA rival Coon Rapids 30-30 (Most First Points) and they dropped the championship to Section 7AAA rival Saint Michael-Albertville 40-28. Tyler Tischer, Ty Torgerson, Cole Bakke, Clayton Jennissen, Travis Holt and Cody Skog were unbeaten at the Cardinal duals.


LITTLE FALLS FLYERS


The Flyers had a good showing to open up their 2011-2012 campaign as they went 3-1 at the Monticello "Magic" Duals. They topped St. Francis 41-32, AA Lean and Mean Annandale-Maple Lake 45-34 and North Branch 53-20. They dropped a dual to No. 8AAA ranked Owatonna 50-24. Frank Wilczek and Dillon Kifer were both 4-0 and Connor Scherping and Tyler Gastecki were both 3-1 for the Flyers. The Flyers topped AAA Lean and Mean St. Cloud Apollo in a key Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA dual 44-26. The Flyers earned 101 points at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Tourney for eighth place. They had five wrestlers place in the top six, including three runner ups in this fifteen team tourney; Frank Wilczek, Connor Scherping and Dillon Kifer. Adam Grams earned fifth place and Axel Lange took sixth place.


ST. CLOUD APPOLLO EAGLES


The Eagles started their 2011-2012 campaign with a strong showing at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights" Invitational where they earned third place with 142 points. The Eagles had nine wrestlers place in the top five including championship by Mitch Bengtson and Grant Nehring. Grant Dullinger, Matt Braun and Nick Stram all earned second place and Jerad Morferd earned fourth place. Peter Nelson, Dylan Mehr and Bryce Kirchner all took fifth place for the Eagles. They dropped a Central Lake Conference Dual and Section 8AAA dual to Little Falls 44-26. The Eagles had a very good tourney performance with 169.5 points to take second place at the Big Lake "Hornets" Invitational. They had a total of ten place winners including a pair of championships by Mitch Bengtson and Nick Stram. Special note Mitch Bengtson won his 142nd consecutive win to set a new state record. Congratulations Mitch! Grant Dullinger, Matt Braun, Grant Nehring and Dylan Tilbury all earned second place. Bryce Kirchner earned third place, Dylan Mehr fourth place and Austin Rice and Peter Nelson took fifth place for the Eagles.


WILLMAR CARDINALS

The Cardinals had a good start to their 2011-2012 campaign as they earned third place at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Invitational with 119 points. They had eight wrestlers place in the top four places and leading the way was Alex Johannes as he won their only championship. Colten Calrson and Seth Pollock both earned second place and Austin Miley, Zach Leuders and Shawn Johnson all earned third place. Logan Walkow took fourth place for the Cardinals. They topped three foes at the MACCRAY Quadrangular with impressive wins over MACCRAY 69-10, Benson 57-13 and Tracy-Milroy 53-21. Cass Herzog, Colton Carlson, Alex Johannes, Seth Pollock, Chad Mihausen, Zach Leuders, Logan Wilkow and Nate Mittag all were 3-0 at the quadrangular. The Cardinals had an awesome performance with 252 points to win the championship at the Cardinal Classic and thirteen wresters placing in the top five. Six championships were won by: Austin Miley, Zach Lueders, Seth Pollock, Cass Herzog, Nate Mittag and Alex Johannes. Colten Carlson, Chad Milhausen, Shawn Johnson and Logan Walkow all earned second place. Augustine Hahn earned third place and Travis Deegan and Logan Wigton both took fifth place.

SARTELL SABRES

The Sabres started their season with a very strong showing with 188 points to earn second place at the Melrose/Sauk Centre "Early Bird" tourney. They had ten wrestlers place in the top five including two championships by Josh Halicke and Brady Goebel. Josh Halicke was also name the Outstanding Wrestler for his performance. Daniel Vitale, Drew Bienusa and Zach Motachke all earned second place and Anthony Thene and Zach Pederson both took third place. Nick Jensen and Jed Anderson both took fifth place for the Sabres. The Sabres topped two Central Lakes Conference foes Rocori 51-14 and Section 8AAA rival Brainerd 34-21 for the second time in school history. The Sabres were back in action at the Big Lake "Hornet" Tourney where they earned fourth place with 158 points and ten wrestlers placing in the top five. Five championships were won by Josh Halicke, Daniel Vitale, Brady Goebel, Drew Bienusa and Nick Jensen. Anthone Thene, Jake Pelach and Sam Krauel all earned fourth place and Grant counter and Zach Pederson both took fifth place.

BRAINERD WARRIORS

The Warriors did have a strong showing to open their 2011-2012 season at the Blue Earth Area "Dick Maher" Invitational with 164 points to earn second place. They had ten place winners in the top five including two championships by Nate Adams and Casey Biever. Dan Babineau, Shane White, Jeff Hickenger and Levi Rubin all earned third place. Tyler Spangler earned fourth place and James Weise took fifth place. They split two Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA duals; they topped Alexandria 53-24 and lost to Sartell 34-21. The Warriors scored 101.5 points and had seven wrestlers place in the top six at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational . Nate Adams and Casey Beiver both earned second place and Dan Babineau earned third place. Levi Rubin earned fourth place, Jeff Flickinger and James Weiss both earned fifth place and Spencer Kangas took sixth place.


BEMIDJI LUMBERJACKS


The LumberJacks first action of the season was at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with 68.5 points for thirteenth place. They had three place winners including a championship by Alex Johnson at 285, Craig Maas third place and Logan Crosby earned fourth place.


MOORHEAD SPUDS

The Spuds had a bit of a struggle in their opening of the 2011-2012 season where they dropped duals to No. 7AAA ranked Cambridge-Isanti 52-15, No. 9AAA White Bear Lake 45-24 and to No. 3AA ranked Scott West 55-13. Joey Carpenter was the lone Spud to win all three of his matches at the White Bear Lake quadrangular. The Spuds earned ninth place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with 99 points and four place winners. Including a championship by Chase Morlock at 182. A. J. Wheeler earned third place and Joe Carpenter and Jacob Rositas both earned fifth place in this fifteen team tourney.


ELK RIVER ELKS


The Elks earned eighth place at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights" Invitational to open up their 2011-2012 campaign. They had 72 points and four place winners; including Garret Coldon earning second place, Evan Colden and Mitch Beaudry both earning third place and Kyle Wieman taking fourth place. The Elks dropped their season opener to Anoka 45-21. The Elks went 0-3 at the Milaca "Wolves" Duals; as they dropped duals to Stillwater 34-33, Sauk Rapids 34-32 and St. Cloud Tech 43-29. Bob Schmitz, Mitch Beaundry, Zach Brown and Kyle Wiemann were all 3-0 at the Milaca Duals.


ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS

The Tigers opened their 2011-2012 campaign at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights" Invitational with 72 points to earn seventh place with five place winners. Bryant Amundson won a championship, Jarrod Neiland and Maurice Martin both earned third place and Tommy O'Brien earned fourth place. Linkcoln Brower took fifth place for the Tigers. They split duals as they topped AAA foe Wayzata 39-28 and lost to No. 8AA ranked Milaca 44-21. The Tigers went 1-1 at the Milaca "Wolves" Duals with a big win over AAA foe Elk River 43-29. They dropped a dual to Class A Lean and Mean Holdingford 40-27. Jacob Nehik, Tommy O'Brien, Jesse Johnson and Bryant Amundson all won both of their matches.

SAUK RAPIDS STORM

The Storm had a very good showing to open their 2011-2012 campaign as they earned fourth place with 130.5 points at the Litchfield "Dragons" Invitational. They had eight wrestlers place in the top five with Eric Olson leading the way with his championship at 113 pounds. They Storm had four wrestlers earned third place Sean Pierson, Chris Keske, Dalton Siemers and MacKay Ness. Taylor Rau, Austin Walz and Trent Klejesk all earned fourth place for the Storm. The Storm dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to Fergus Falls 44-27. The Storm went 1-2 at the Milaca "Wolves" Duals with a win over Elk River 34-32, they dropped a very close dual to Class A Lean and Mean Aitkin 34-35. They lost to the host school Milaca 45-24. Taylor Rau and Chris Keske were both 3-0 on the day.

BUFFALO BISON

The Bison earned seventh place in their season open with 115 points at the Osseo "Ken Droegemueller" Invitational with 115 points. They had eight wrestlers place in the top five with Tanner Maus leading the way as he won a championship. Lucas Mock and Cedric Jeminez both earned second place and Walker Rask and Ian Scherber both earned fourth place. Andrew Mock and Jonathan Wirkkala both took fifth place for the Bison. They dropped a Mississippi 8 Conference dual to No. 7AAA ranked Cambridge-Isanti 65-12. The Bison earned sixth place with 125.5 points at the Chanhassen/Chaska "Holiday" Invitational. They had six place winners including one championship by Cedric Jimenez, Andrew Mork and Adam Treptau both earned second place. Lucas Mork and Ian Scherber both earned third place and Jonathan Wirkala took fifth place.

ALEXANDRIA CARDINALS

The Cardinals opened their 2011-2012 campaign with 51 points and a eighth place at the Litchfield "Dragons" Invitational. The Cardinals were led by Trent Piepenburg as he won a championship at 106 pounds. Tristan Johnson earned fourth place and Shawn Nelson took fifth place. The Cardinals dropped their first dual to Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rival Brainerd 53-24. The Cardinals earned tenth place with 76 points at the West Central Area "Grant County" Tourney. They had four place winners including Trent Piepenburg and Justin Cumberbatch both earned second place. Gage Sonczalla and Tony Hubbard both took fifth place.

ROCORI SPARTANS

The Spartans opened their 2011-2012 campaign at the Melrose/Sauk Centre "Early Bird" Invitational with 89 points and five place winners. Nate Ness, Sam Kuss and Tyler Hoffman all earned second place and Adam Kunz earned third, Jordan Hemmesch took fourth place. The Spartans have dropped a pair of Central Lakes Conference duals to Sartell 51-14 and Fergus Falls 54-21. The Spartans earned seventh place at the Shakopee "Sabres" Invitational with 83 points. Zavier Gropper earned second place, Jordan Hemmesch earned third place, Nate Ness earned fourth place and Kolten Ressemenn took fifth place.

CLASS AA

FOLEY FALCONS

The Falcons started their 2011-2012 campaign with a very impressive showing with three wins over Class A foes; including No. 10A ranked Pierz 63-10, Lean and Mean Paynesville 44-13 and Royalton 59-15. They used several wrestlers in these duals, Tristan Manderfeld, Keith Thell and Tyler Funk were all 3-0 for the Falcons. The Falcons topped the fifteen team field of teams at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with 270.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top six. Tyler Funk, Tristan Manderfeld, Mitch Dunlap, Tyler Bemboom, Taylor Lewandowski, Tony Kipka and Sam Olson all won championships. Keith Thell earned second place and a trio of thirds were earned by Tyler Jenson, Nick Lefebvre and Mitch Keeler. Tyler Beehler too took sixth place at the Paul Bunyan.


NEW LONDON-SPICER WILDCATS


The Wildcats open their 2011-2012 campaign with a very strong showing at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguars" Invitational with 197.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top four. Four championships were won by the Wildcats; Jake Skageberg, Chase Austvold, Dylan Hanson and Tanner Tobkin. Tom Stageberg, Treyton Ausvold, Ben Henle and Kyle Cappelan all earned second place. Jarrett Hatlestad and Grant Vagle both earned third place and Logen Brink and Brandon Knisley both took fourth place. They Wildcats topped Section 6AA and West Central North Conference rival Melrose/Sauk Centre 79-0. The Wildcats split a pair of duals; they topped section 6AA rival Litchfield 65-12 and they dropped a dual to No. 7A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 39-22.

MILACA WOLVES

The Wolves had a very good start to their 2011-2012 campaign as they went 3-1 at the Waconia "Wlldcat" Duals. They topped Class A Lean and Mean LeSueur-Henderson 45-27, Waconia 48-18 and Marshall 49-25. They did dropped a dual to unranked AAA foe Shakopee 40-27. Joey Curtis, Chris Newgaard, Jonah Gahm and Austin Weidner were all 4-0 and Joe Moscho and Trevor Hoskins were both 3-1 for the Wolves. They earned second place at their dual meet invitational with wins over Sauk Rapids 45-21 and Aitkin 41-20. They dropped the championship to Class A Lean and Mean Holdingford 33-31. Joey Curtis, Jonah Gahn and Jake Earl were all 3-0 at the Wolves duals.

DAWSON-BOYD/LQPV UNITED

The United started their season with No. 7A Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and they came up a little short 56-10. The United rebounded with a strong showing at the West Central Area "Grant County" Invitational with 195 points to earned second place. they had nine wrestlers place in the top five at this twelve team event. T. J. Fulton, John Weeding, Sam Haas and J. D. Struxness all won championships. Brandon Schmitt earned second place and Jared Rolland, Garth Ochsendorf and Jordan Staab all earned third place and Jordan Bothun earned fourth place.

MONTICELLO MAGIC

The Magic had a good showing to open their 2011-2012 campaign with a 2-2 mark at the Magic Duals. They topped North Branch 39-29 and New Ulm 69-9 and dropped duals to No. 3A ranked Wabasso 49-22 and No. 8AAA ranked Owatonna 44-16. Jack Bourgeois, Eric Bourgeois, Zach Beaumater, Jake Berthiaume, Ross Henderson and Luke Palmer were all 3-1 at the Magic duals. The Magic topped the field of teams at the Big Lake "Hornets" Invitational with 212 points and thirteen place winners in the top five places. Nic Grimley, Ross Henderson and Eric Boureois all won championships and Zach Beaumaster, Jake Berthiaume and Tevin Zavadil all earned second place. Jack Bourgeois, Taylor Bouma, Carter Barnes and Seth Gardner all earned third place. Jeremiah Yeats earned fourth place and Mitch Hanson took fifth place.

MORA MUSTANGS

The Mustangs started their season with a strong showing as they topped Section 7AA rival and No. 12AA ranked Grand Rapids 47-24 and another Section 7AA foe Hibbing 50-20. They did dropped a dual to No. 7AAA ranked Cambridge-Isanti 44-22. Brent Schroeder and Codi LaFromboise were both 3-0 at the Chisago Lakes "Wildcat" Duals. The Mustangs had a very good performance with 201 points and nine place winners in the top five to win the championship at the Maple Grove "Crimson" Invitational. Codie LaFromboise and Brent Schroeder both won championships and Sam Lawrence and Zach Smith both earned second place. Tony Jenson, Ken Kastenbauer, Brady Beier and Austin Richard all earned third place and Thomas Hischer took fifth place.

BECKER BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs had a very good showing to open the 2011-2012 campaign with three wins over No. 10A ranked Pierz 48-19, Class A Lean and Mean Paynesville 46-27 and Royalton 42-27. Luke Schmalz, Steve Kappes, Zach Zimmer and Colton Vekved were all 3-0 at the Foley "Falcon" Duals. The Bulldogs did drop a dual to Mississippi 8 Conference foe and No. 2AAA ranked St. Michael-Albertville 40-21. The Bulldogs had a very strong performance at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" "Invitational with 119.5 points to earned fourth place in this fifteen team event. Luke Schmalz and Colten Vekved both earned third place. Cory Nelson, Brady Kurtz and Mike Soule all earned fourth place and Jake Toedter earned fifth place.

FERGUS FALLS OTTERS

The Otters opened their season at the Wahpeton "Dan Unruh" Invitational earning sixth place with 112.5 points and four place winners. Abbott Aho and Abram Aho both earned second place and Matt Laugen and Justin Polejewski both fourth place. The Otters have two impressive dual meet wins over Central Lakes Conference foes Sauk Rapids 44-27 and Rocori 54-21. The Otters earned 114.5 points at the twelve team event for fourth place at the West Central Area "Grant County" Invitational. They had six wrestlers place in the top five with Dane Ringquist and Matt Laugen earning second places and Abott Aho earned third place. Justin Polejewski and Gus Makovsky both earned fourth place and Abram Aho took fifth place.

ANNANDALE-MAPLE LAKE LIGHTNING

The Lightning went 2-2 at the Monticello "Magic" Duals with wins over North Branch 37-34 and Bloomington Kennedy 21. They dropped duals to 3A ranked Wabasso/Red Rock Central 50-18 and to unranked AAA foe Little Falls 56-34. Joe Mosley, Bennett Erickson and Jordan Hanan were all 4-0 at the Magic Duals. The Lightning dropped a big Section 6AA and Wright County Conference dual to Dassel Cokato 43-24. They did have a solid performance at the Maple Grove "Crimson" Invitational with 153.5 points to earn third place. Ted Erickson, Joe Mosley and Jordan Hanan all won championships and Tanner Vasser and Cruz Johnson both earned second place.

CHISAGO LAKES WILDCATS

The Wildcats started their season with No. 1AA and National ranked Simley where they came up short 42-18 and they topped Section 7AA and North Suburban Conference foe North Branch 40-33. They topped AAA Blaine 45-33 and drop duals to Section 7AA foe Grand Rapids 40-34 and AAA foe Rosemount 49-20. They earned fifth place at their Wildcat Duals. Kyle Schoenecker, Joe Virga and Jonah Westburg were 3-0 at the duals. The Wildcats had a huge win over North Suburban Conference and Section 7AA rival North Branch 40-33. The Wildcats had an impressive showing at the fifteen team event at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with 110.5 points and six wrestlers placing in the top six places. This included three finalists; Kyle Schoenecker, Dylan Connel and Chase Kammerer all earned second place. Quade Zupko earned fourth place, Jonah Westbury earned fifth place and Bobby Sontag took sixth place.

LITCHFIELD DRAGONS

The Dragons had a strong showing at their Dragons Invitational with 131 points to earn third place. They had seven wrestlers place in the top five including Austin Jones winning a championship and Ryan Anderson, Tyler Jones, Walker Kaping and Max Kaping all earning second place. Devan Nelson and Nathan King both earned third place at the Dragon invitational. They dropped a Wright County Conference dual to Mound-Westonka 46-24. They lost to No. 5AA ranked and section 6AA foe New London-Spicer 65-12 and to No. 7A Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 43-18.

NORTH BRANCH VIKINGS


The Vikings topped a pair of North Suburban Conference foes, Fridley 54-18 and Spring Lake Park 57-14. They went 1-2 at the Monticello "Magic" Duals with a win over New Ulm 73-3, they dropped duals to No. 9AA ranked Monticello 39-29, Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple Lake 37-34 and to AAA unranked Little Falls 53-20. Pat Mork was the lone wrestler that went 4-0 and Aaron Senne, Reid Johnson and Sam Peltier were all 3-1 at the Magic duals. The Vikings dropped a dual to North Suburban Conference and Section 7AA rival Chisago Lakes 40-33. They had a strong showing at the Big Lake "Hornets" Invitational with 159 points to earn third place. They had eleven wrestlers place in the top five with one championship by Reid Johnson. Sam Pelter and Eric Bergstran earned second place. Bert Leudtke, Jake Pilz, Aaron Sermu and Seams Hunter all earned third place. Dalton Houk and Mike Vogel both earned fourth place and Mitch Anderson took fifth place.


MORRIS AREA/HANCOCK-CHOKIO ALBERTA TIGERS

The Tigers earned 108 points at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrsoa "Jaguar" Invitational with six wrestlers placing in the top four places. Tim Ostby, Joel Harrison and Zack Gibson all won championships. Travis Ostby earned third place and Myles Smith and Wade Ehlers both earned fourth place. The Tigers earned third place at the twelve team event with 133 Points at the West Central Area "Grant County" Invitational. Tim Ostby won their lone championship and Joel Harrison and Zach Gibson both earned third place. Dillan Johnson and Seth Nelson both earned fourth place and Coonor Metzger and Wade Ehlers both took fifth place.

CLASS A

KIMBALL CUBS

The Cubs started the 2011-2012 campaign with an impressive showing at the Rush City "Tigers" Invitational with 271.5 points and all fourteen wrestlers placing in the top five. A total of nine championships were won by Marcus Hamer, Tanner Mills, Quentin Bryce, Travis Schiefelbein, Austin Schiefelbein, Alex Thurber, Travis Wills, Quenten Berres and Mitchell McKee. Earning second place was Brady Mehr and Luke Serbus earned third place. Taking fifth place were Matt Donnay, Austin Scheueter and Markus Mehr. The Cubs topped section 5A foe Minnewaska 70-9. The Cubs had a very strong performance with 168.5 points to earn second place at the Delano "Tigers" Invitational. They had twelve wrestlers place in the top five with eight wrestlers earning second place; Alex Thurber, Austin Schiefelbein, Quintin Bryce, Markus Mehr, Tanner Mills, Marcus Hamer, Jordan Joseph and Mitchel McKee. Tim Konz earned fourth place and Travis Wills, Austin May and Devon Kelley all took fifth place.

ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY FALCONS

The Falcons started their 2011-2012 campaign with a very impressive showing as they topped the field of teams at the Litchfield "Dragons" Invitational with 271 points. The Falcons had thirteen wrestlers place in the top five including eight championships by: Hayden Rouser, Colen Kragenbring, Tyler Berghuis, Matt Meyer, Logan Peterson, Larry Bomstad, James Nelson, Logan Peterson and Lucas Damm. Earning second place was Maverick Whitcomb and earning third place was Matt Whitcomb. Jordan Fester took fifth place at 220 for the Falcons. The Falcons dominated No. 5AA ranked 39-22 and topped AA rival Litchfield 43-18. In a huge West Central South Conference dual they topped Dawson-Boyd-LQPV 56-10.

BORDER WEST BUCCANEERS


The Buccaneers earned fourth place in their opening event with 144 points at the Wahpeton "Dan Unruh" Invitational. They had thirteen wrestlers place in the top five including a championship by Cameron Sykora at 106. Gus McCarthy earned second place and Charlie Maanum, Austin Maanum and Tracer Lee all earned third place. They topped two section 6A teams West Central Area 58-22 and Parkers Prairie 61-9. The Buccaneers had a good tournament performance with 127 points to earn fourth place at the West Central Area "Grant County" Invitational. They had six wrestlers place in the top six with Cameron Sykora, Austin Maanum and Charlie Maanum winning championships. Tracer Lee earned third place and Bryce Nilson and Seth Callenius both took fifth place.


KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS

The Fighting Saints had a great start to their 2011-2012 campaign with a championship at the Melrose/Sauk Centre "Early Bird" Invitational with 245.5 points. They had twelve wrestlers place in the top five with seven winning championships; Zach Carlson, Jordan Engler, Jordan Rothers, Kyle Baker, Nick Meyer, Lamberto Rodrigquez and Isaac Froelich. Earning third place were Simon Johnson, Jesse Engler, Austin Rothers and Alex Mond and Chase Norton took fifth place. The Fighting Saints earned second place with 224 points at the Willmar "Cardinal Classic" Invitational. They had nine wrestlers place in the top four with five championships by: Jordan Engler, Jessie Engler, Jordan Rothers, Alex Mond and Austin Rothers. Zach Carlson earned second place, Nick Meyer and Kyle Baker both earned third place and Chase Norton took fourth place.


PIERZ PIONEERS


The Pioneers opened up their 2011-2012 campaign at the Foley "Falcon" Duals where they went 1-2. They topped Class A Lean and Mean Paynesville 49-27 and they lost to No. 2AA ranked Foley 63-16 and AA Lean and Mean Becker 48-19. Nathan Tomala was the lone Pioneer wrestler to go 3-0 on the day. The Pioneers had a great tournament performance with 123 points to earned third place in the fifteen team field of teams at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational. Seven wrestlers placed in the top six; Nathan Tomala earned second place and Chris Ortman and Dustin Waytashek both earned third place. Kolten Eischens and Brad Meyer both earned fourth place and Brandon Sullivan and Ryley Smude both took sixth place.


HOLDINGFORD HUSKIERS


The Huskiers opened their campaign at the Belgade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Invitational with 109 points to earned fourth place. They have seven wrestlers place in the top including a championship won by Mike Jarnot at 145 and Jordan Gombos and Mitch Messman both earned second place. Zach Scott, Trevor Scott and Brandon Charon all earned third place and Adam Lane took fourth place. The Huskiers topped three foes in some very good duals; they topped Central Minnesota Conference rival Eden Valley-Watkins 57-18, Browerville/Eagle Valley 60-18 and a big win over Section 7A and Lean and Mean rival Aitkin 37-31. The Huskiers continue to have impressive performances. They topped the field of teams at the Milaca "Wolves" Duals with wins over AAA Stillwater 36-32, AAA St. Cloud Tech 40-27 and No. 8AA ranked Milaca 33-31. Trevor Scott, Mike Jarnot, Kyle Gerads and Mitch Messman were all 3-0 at the Wolves duals.

AITKIN GOBBLERS


The Gobblers topped Great River Conference rival Rush City/Braham 69-12. They did drop a huge Section 7A dual to Lean and Mean foe Holdingford 37-31.The Gobblers earned third place at the Milaca "Wolves" Duals with wins over AAA Stillwater 36-33 and Sauk Rapids 35-34. They dropped their semifinal dual to Milaca 44-20. Jerod Novak, Brian Wold, Jordan Chouanard, Adam Best and Cooper Blau were wall unbeaten.


PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs started their campaign at the Foley "Falcon" Duals with three losses first to 2AA ranked Foley 44-13, No. 10 A ranked Pierz 49-27 and to Royalton 38-36. The Bulldogs had a great showing as they topped two West Central South Conference foes; BOLD 42-27 and Yellow Medicine 42-37. They topped section 5A foe Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. The Bulldogs were at the Park Cottage Grove Dual Invitational where they earned fifth place with a win over Goodhue 39-33. They dropped close duals to AAA St. Francis 33-31, AA Cannon Falls 40-30 and Class A Lean and Mean Chatfield 45-33. Clay Spanier, Caleb Burris and Dominick Platow were all 4-0 and Mitcheal Luwig and Tanner Harder were both 3-1.


BELGRAGE-BROOTEN-ELROSA JAGUARS


The Jaguars started their 2011-2012 campaign with a very impressive showing as they earned second place at their Jaguar Invitational with 127 points. With eight wrestlers placing in the top four and three championships by Josey Tensen, Ross Rath and Patrick Rooney. Tyelr Tensen and Dillon Knutson both earned second place and Daniel Rooney earned third place. Colby Schramel and Matt Schmitz both took fourth place for the Jaguars. Topped BOLD 34-33 and MACCRAY/RCW 43-29. The Jaguars had a very good tournament performance as they earned fourth place at the Maple Grove "Crimson" Invitational with 152.5 points. With seven wrestlers in the top six; including; Patrick Rooney and Dillon Knutson both earned second place. Tyler Tensen and Ross Rath both earned fourth place and Daniel Rooney and Marshall Zachman both took fifth place.

BOLD WARRIORS

The Warriors had an impressive opening to their 2011-2012 campaign by earning third place with 125 points at the Glencoe/Silver Lake "Don Hall" Invitatonal. The Warriors had eight wrestlers place in the top four with one championship by Brady Zitzman at 106. Sean Weibel, Brett Grund and Ben Garcia all earned second place and Alex Hatch and Chaz Rousch both earned third place. Trevor Nissen and Nick Steffel both took fourth place. The split West Central South Conference duals with a win over Yellow Medicine 35-33 and they dropped a dual to Lean and Mean Paynesville 40-27. The Warriors split duals as they topped section 3A rival MACCRAY/RCW and they dropped a dual to West Central Conference dual to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrsoa 34-33.

NEW YORK MILLS EAGLES


The Eagles dropped a pair of duals to start their 2011-2012 campaign; they lost to AA Lean and Mean Staples 51-18 and Section 8A Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 39-31. The Eagles earned fifth place at the West Central Area "Grant County" Invitational with 122.5 points and seven place winners. Shane Novak, Maison Roberts and Tyler Petron all earned second place and Tyler Ehnert, Gunner Flynn, Michael Meyer and Max Carlson all earned fourth place. The Eagles dropped a dual to AA rival Park Rapids 42-36.

BERTHA-HEWITT/VERNDALE RAIDERS

The Raiders topped Park Region Conference foe Osakis 45-24 and class A rival Minnewaska 41-33. They did come up short against No. 5A ranked Kimball 60-15 and a strong Pequot Lakes/Pine River/Backus team 45-36. The Raiders earned fourth place at the Barnesville "Trojan" Invitational with 135 points and nine wrestlers placing in the top five. Colin Turchin, Dillon Card and Justin Gordon all won championships and Andrew Bounds earned third place. Ethan Kimber, Dakota Finck, Dalton Baker and Marshall Willis all earned fourth place and Hayden Truax took fifth place.


BRECKENRIDGE COWBOYS



The Cowboys had a slow start to their season at the Wahpeton "Dan Unruh" Memorial Invitational with 78 points to take eleventh place. Greg Erlandson won a championship and Conrad Kondos earned second place. Cole Praus earned fourth place and Jesse Differding took fifth place. They dropped their first dual to Wahpeton 38-33. The Cowboys had a better performance at the Barnesville "Trojan" Invitational with 129 points and nine place winners. Conrad Kondos and Greg Erlandson both won championships and Michael Whitney earned second place. Jess Differding and Cole Praus earned third place and Josh Peterson earned fourth place. Mark Erickson, Josh Stuehrenberg and Zach Willprecht all took fifth places.

UNITED NORTH CENTRAL WARRIORS


The Warriors earned sixth place with 103 points at the Wadena-Deer Creek "Wolverine" Invitational. They had five wrestlers place in the top five with Max Pajari winning at championship at 138 and Mike Johnson, Tommy Tellers and Dylan Huttunen all earned fourth place and Taylor Carlson took fifth place. The Warriors welcome the return of Jake Malone to their lineup; with a very impressive tournament performance with 172.5 points and nine wrestlers placing in the top five, to win the championship at the Crookston "Rod Olson" Invitational. Tommy Tellers, Jake Malone and Max Pajari all won championships. Tommy Tellers also won the fall award with 3 falls in 2:15. Dylan Huttunen and Taylor Carlson both earned third place and Landon Oshie earned fourth place. Tristan Palmer and Micah Aho both took fifth place for the Warriors.
