Central Minnesota Mat Rats Report (16th Annual)

MAT RATS TOP CLASS AA TEAMS

1. FOLEY FALCONS
The Falcons topped the field of teams at their invitational with a very dominating performance. They topped Section 6AA rival Becker 43-21, Section 7A power Royalton 52-6 and Section 5A power Paynesville 40-21. The Falcons topped the fifteen team field of teams at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Tourney with 240.5 points and with twelve wrestlers placing in the top five. Tristan Manderfield, Tyler Jenson, Keith Thell, Mitch Dunlap and Taylor Lewandowski all won championships. Sam Keeler, Tony Kipka and Nick Lefebrve all earned second places, Taylor Rothfork earned fourth place and Will Sustercich and Tyler Bemboom both took fifth place.

2. NEW LONDON-SPICER WILDCATS
The Wildcats had a very impressing opening to their season with a dominating performance at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguar invitational. They won the tourney with 271.5 points and all fourteen wrestlers placing in the top four. Shawn Hatlestad, Dylan Hanson, Ben Henle, Corbin Schwartz and Jakob Stageburg all won championships. Earning second place were: Treyton Austvold, Logan Brink, Tanner Tobkin, Zach Borka, Kyle Cappelen, David Nething and Jarett Hatlestad. Boone Winkler earned third place and Cameron Steffen took fourth place. The Wildcats opened their dual meet portion of their season with a huge win over the new coop of Sauk Centre and Melrose 71-6. The Wildcats topped Section 6AA foe Litchfield 70-3, before dropping a dual to Class A ranked No. 5 ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 39-26.

3. MONTICELLO MAGIC
The Magic opened their dual meet season with a huge win over Mississippi 8 conference and Section 5AA foe Rogers 70-6. The Magic topped four foes at their dual meet invitational with big wins over AAA power Bloomington Kennedy 53-16, Section 6AA power Annandale/Maple Lake 42-28, Section 7AA foe North Branch 55-15 and Section 6AA power Little Falls 38-30. Tyler Mergen, Sebastian Gardner, Jake Schmitz and Nic Grimley. Ryan Micaelis, Logan Draack, Jake Berthiaume, Eric Bourgeois and Joe Jude were all 3-1 at the tourney. The Magic had a huge win over No. 5AAA ranked and Mississippi 8 Conference foe Cambridge-Isanti 32-23; this is the biggest dual meet win the Magic have had in recent years. The Magic followed up that big win over Cambridge-Isanti with a tourney championship at the Big Lake "Hornets" Invitational with 247 points and thirteen wrestlers placing in the top four. Tyler Mergen, Logan Draack, Sebastian Gardner, Ryan Michaelis, Eric Bourgeois all won championships. Tyler Mergen won the fall award at the Hornet invitational. Joe Jude and Carter Barnes both earned second places, Jake Berthiaum earned third place and Logan Stiller, Mark Hickman, Kevin Zavadi and Jake Schmitz all took fourth place.

3. MILACA WOLVES
The Wolves had a good start to their dual meet portion of their season at the Waconia Duals; as they posted a 3-1 mark with a big win over the host Waconia 46-27, Section 3AA foe Marshall 53-15 and Class A Lean and Mean LeSueur-Henderson 42-32. Joey Curtiss, Joe Mascho, Jonah Gahn and Trevor Haskins were all 4-0 and Joe Hemmerich and Justin Ladehoff were all 3-1 at the duals. The Wolves topped Section 7AA and West Central Conference North foe Mora in a great dual 36-33.

4. ANNANDALE-MAPLE LAKE LIGHTNING
The Lightning had good start to the season as they posted a 2-2 mark at the Monticello Magic Duals. They topped Section 7AA power North Branch 50-25 and Section 7AAA power St. Francis 45-27. They dropped a close dual to Section 6AA power Little Falls 42-39 and to No. 8AA ranked Monticello 42-28. Joe Mosley, Jordan Hanan and Alex Couette were all 4-0 and Nick Anderson, Matt Fuller, Teddy Erickson and Jesse Puncochar were 3-1 at the Magic Duals. The Lightning won the Fifth Annual Battle for the Bolt with a impressive showing over rival and Section 6AA foe Dassel Cokato 49-20.
5. LITTLE FALLS FLYERS
The Flyers started their season with a very impressive win over Class AAA ranked Central Lakes Conference foe St. Cloud Apollo 42-26. They posted a 3-1 mark at the Monticello Magic duals with big wins over AAA foe New Ulm 69-9, Section 7AA power North Branch 38-37, Section 6AA foe Annandale-Maple Lake 42-39. They dropped a dual to Section 5AA power and No. 8AA ranked Monticello 38-30. Frank Wilczek was 4-0 and Dillon Kifer, Luke Lodemier, Conor Swenson and Jack Jendro were all 3-1 at the Magic Duals. The Flyers picked up a dual win over Central Lakes Conference foe Sartell 60-20. The Flyers had a great showing with 142 points and eight place winners to earn third place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Tournament. In a field of fifteen teams the Flyers earned one championship won by Dilan Gustecki and one runner up by Frank Wilcek. Jack Jendro and Dillon Kifer both earned third place and Connor Swenson earned fourth place. Joe Tuholsky earned fifth place and Bryant Bue and Connor Scherping both took sixth place.

6. FERGUS FALLS OTTERS
The Otters had a huge win over one of the Central Lakes Conference favorites Willmar 49-22. They had a good performance at the Dan Unruh Memorial Tourney in Wahpeton, ND with 122 points to earn fifth place in a field of fifteen teams. They had eight place winners including one championship by Myrone Bell and three third places by Harvey McMahon, Bryant MarquedantL and Marlo Bell. Tyler Giza and Matt Laugen both earned fourth place, Dane Ringquist fifth place and Jake Hauge took sixth place. The Otters lost a big dual to Central Lakes Conference rival Brainerd 37-24. The Otters turned a great performance with 216 points and thirteen place winners to claim the championship at the West Central Area "Grant County" Tournament. Myron Bell, Bryant Marquedent and Harvey McMahon all won championships and Abbot Aho, Derrick Teberg, Tyler Giza, Marlo Bell and Matt Laugen all earned second places. Alex Johnson and Hayden Zenner both earned third places, Justin Polizewski and Dane Ringquist both earned fourth place and Jake Hauge took fifth place.

7. STAPLES-MOTLEY CARDINALS
The Cardinals topped AAA foe Rocori 46-21 but fell to the ranked AAA team Sauk Rapids 42-27. The Cardinals topped two Mid-State foes Detroit Lakes 42-25 and Crosby-Ironton 42-17. The Cardinals dropped three duals at the New York Mills "Eagles Quadrangular" to New York Mills 37-24, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 38-33 and Badger-Greenbush/Middle River 43-24.

8. MORA MUSTANGS
The Mustangs had a strong start to their season with their performance at the Chisago Lakes dual with a big win over AAA foe Blaine 45-21 and a huge win over Section 7AAA foe Hibbing 37-33. They did lose to the Class A No. 6 ranked team Kenyon-Wanamingo 49-26. Brent Schroeder, Zach Smith, Codie LaFromboise and Tyler Carlson were all 3-0 at the duals. The Mustangs dropped a very close dual to Section 7AA and West Central North Conference rival Milaca 36-33.

9. DASSEL COKATO CHARGERS
The Chargers had a solid start to their season by earning fourth place with 110 points at the St. Michael-Albertville "Saints" Invitational. They had eight place winners including one championship by Andrew Madson, and seconds by Dakota Hanson and Brent Pokornowski. Earning third place was Alex Bapp and four fourths by Tom Halonen, Spencer Broberg, Brady Peterson and Jack Anderson. Tom Kesky and Tarren Nordstrom both took fifth place. The Chargers dropped their Fifth Annual Battle for the Bolt with Wright County Conference and Section 6AA foe Annandale-Maple Lake 49-20.
10. DAWSON-BOYD/LQPV UNITED
The UNITED started their season against the West Central Conference favorites and No. 5A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and they came up short 45-25. They did top Minnewaska in another West Central South Conference dual 46-29. They dropped a big dual to Section 3AA foe Wabasso 57-19 and they topped Hayfield 42-32. John Weeding, Ryan Swenson and Sam Haas were all 3-0 at the Wabasso Triangular.

11. North Branch Vikings
The Vikings topped two North Suburban conference foes with impressive performances over Spring Lake Park 68-6 and Fridley 63-18. They went 1-3 at the Monticello Magic duals with a win over AAA Bloomington Kennedy. They dropped duals to AA No. 6 ranked Monticello 55-19, AA Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple Lake 50-24 and AA Lean and Mean Little Falls 38-37. Aaron Senne was 4-0 and Jake Kostik, Pat Mork, Justin Bergerson were all 3-1 at the Magic duals. The Vikings topped North Suburban Conference and Section 7AA rival Chisago Lakes 32-26.

12. LITCHFIELD DRAGONS
The Dragons earned third place at their Dragon Invitational with 137 points and eight place winners, including Ryan Anderson, Tyler Jones, Devan Nelson and Max Kaping all earning second place. Austin Jones and Cody Klabunde both earned third place and Walker Kaping took fourth place. The Dragons topped Wright County Conference foe and AAA Mound-Westonka 54-18 and a 5AA foe Brooklyn Center 63-12. The Dragons dropped a pair of duals at the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Triangular to No. 7AA ranked New London-Spicer 70-3 and to No. 5A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 54-16.
MAT RATS TOP CLASS A TEAMS

1. ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY
The Falcons started their season in very impressive fashion with a pair of West Central South Conference wins over a tough Dawson-Body/LQPV 45-25 and Minnewaska 69-0. The topped the field of teams at the Litchfield "Dragons" Invitational with 282 points and fourteen wrestlers placing in the top four. Seven championships by Larry Bomstad, Logan Peterson, Tyler Berghuis, Matt Lee, Matt Meyer, Ryan Larson and Hayden Rouser. Earning second place was Mike Kramer and Robert Rassmussen and a pair of thirds by Dylan Nelson and Lucas Damm. Matt Whitcom and Maverich Whitcomb both earned fourth place and Jordan Nelson took fifth place. The Falcons dominated two West Central Conference foes Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio Alberta 58-9 and Montevideo 62-14. The Falcons continue to impress all their foes with a pair of wins at their triangular with likely their best performance of the young season with a win over 7AA ranked New London-Spicer 39-26 and to AA Litchfield 54-16.

2. BORDER WEST BUCCANEERS
The Buccaneers started their season with a very strong showing at the Dan Unruh Memorial Tourney in Wahpeton, ND with 190.5 points and; just 4.5 points behind Lisbon, ND considered by many possibly the topped small school in North Dakota. They had nine place winners including a pair of championships by Mitch Andrews and Billy Connelly and runnerups by Cameron Sykora, Taylor McCalip, Gus McCarthy and Will McCarthy. Earning fourth place was Nick Stafford and a pair taking sixth place; Charlie Maanum and Wylie Pullis. The Buccaneers also topped two of their Section 6A foes West Central Area 56-12 and Parkers Prairie 64-12. The Buccaneers earned third place at the West Central Area "Grant County" Tournament with 193.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top five. Cameron Sykora, Mitch Andrews, Gus McCarthy and Austin Maanum all won championships and Taylor McCalip and Nick Kleindl both earned second places. Nick Stafford and Leo Nicoletti both earned third places, Wyllie Pullis and Peder Schmitz both earned fourth place and Charlie Maanum took fifth place.

3. KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNDBURG FIGHTING SAINTS
The Fighting Saints start their season with a dominating performance as they topped the field of teams at the Melrose "Early Bird" Tourney with 291 points. They had fourteen wrestlers in the top three including eight championships by Jordan Engler, Zach Carlson, Klinton VanHeuveln, Jordan Rothers, Aaron Doraska, Jessie Engler, Jared Krieger and Myrvan Halleland. There were five seconds earned by; Casey Krieger, Casey Thorson, Chase Norton, Trevor Mahlum and Austin Rothers and taking third place was Isaac Froahlich. The Fighting Saints earned their second tournament championship of this young season as they topped the field of teams at the Willmar "Cardinal Classic" Tournament with 214.5 points and eleven wrestling placing in the top five. Jordan Rothers, Klinton Van Heuveln, Aaron Doraska, Casey Krieger and Jordan Engler all won championships and Trevor Mahlum, Austin Rothers and Jessie Engler all earned second places. Zach Carlson and Myrvan Halleland both earned third place and Chase Norton took fifth place.

4. KIMBALL CUBS
The Cubs topped the field of teams at the Rush City invitational with 278 points, with all fourteen wrestlers placing in the top fifth. The Cubs won eight championships by Mitchell McKee, Quinten Berress, Tanner Mills, Marcus Hamer, Jordan Joseph, David Joseph, Travis Schiefelbein and Alex Thurber. Earning second places were Mitch Pramann and Troy Filzen and a pair of thirds were earned by Caramon Hanson and Austin Schiefelbein. Quintin Bryce earned fourth place and Jacob Linn took fifth place. The Cubs had their best performance of this young season with a huge win over Section 5A Lean and Mean rival Paynesville 44-19. This marks the second time in history they beat their rival, the last being back in the 70's.

5. BOLD WARRIORS WARRIORS
The Warriors had a very dominate performance as they topped the field of teams at the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panther Don Hall Invitational with 188.5 points and eleven wrestlers placing in the top five. Jake Revier and Alex Steffel led the way with a pair of championships and Zach Revier, Ricky Morales and Nick Steffell all earned seconds. Brent O'Haloran, Brady Zitzmann and Bret Grund all earned third place, earning fourths were Logan Erickson and Benny Garcia and Andrew Brooks took fifth place. The Warriors had a couple of big wins over West Central Conference South foes; Yellow Medicine East 51-21 and Minnewaska 51-24. The BOLD Warriors had yet another good tourney performance as they earned fourth place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Tournament, a tourney field of fifteen teams. They earned fourth place with 128 points and seven place winners including one championship by Alex Steffel and one runner up Jake Revier. Earning third place was Brett Grund and Zach Revier, Brent O'Halloran and Andrew Brooks both earned fifth place and Brady Zitzman took sixth place.

6. PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs earned second place at the Foley "Falcon" Duals with two huge wins over Rocori 64-15 and Class A Lean and Mean foe and Section 7A power Pierz 42-29. They dropped their final to the No. 2AA ranked Foley 40-21. Tyler Hemmesch, Matt Doom and Dominck Platow were all 3-0 at the Falcon duals. The Bulldogs dropped a Section 5A dual to No. 11A ranked Kimball 44-19.

7. MIILE LACS RAIDERS
The Raiders had a very strong showing as they started their season earning second place at the Rush City tourney with 231.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top four. Ryan Jones and Mark Francour led the way winning championships and Cody Whitney, Chase Niesen, Nate Bresnahan and Tyler Knudson all earned second places. Zach Olson, Brad Brown, Nick Borchert, Matt Petty and Tim Kent all earned third places and Luke Thompson took fourth place.

8. PIERZ PIONEERS
The Pioneers started their season with a couple of wrestlers missing from their lineup, but they came away with a strong showing with meet wins over AAA Rocori 55-12 and AA Becker 31-29 at the Foley Falcon duals. They did drop their semifinal dual to Class A lean and mean rival Paynesville 42-29. Chris Ortman, Brandon Sullivan and Clint Poster were all 3-0 at the Foley duals. The Pioneers had a good showing with 124.5 Points to earned fifth place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Tournament out of a field of fifteen teams. They had seven place winners including one championship by Clint Poster, it was Clint's third Paul Bunyan Championship. Chris Ortman, Sean Huls and Nathan Tomala all earned fourth place, Brett Brausen and Dustin Waytashek both earned fifth place and Brandon Sullivan took Sixth place.

9. WADENA-DEER CREEK WOLVERINES
The Wolverines had a very strong showing as they earned second place at their own "Wolverine" Invitational with 191 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top four. Mitch Steffens led the way with their only championship and Jacob Wegscheid, Isaac Lustila, Jared Wegscheid and Sam Waln all earned second place. Josh Lawson, Jordan Renz and Tony Reurink all earned third place and taking fourth place was Dylan Anderson, Derek Rude and Jacob Ludovissie. The Wolverine's had great performance with a huge win over highway 10 rival Perham 45-25. The Wolverines continue to turn in good performances as they topped three foes to earn the championship at the Park Rapids "Panther" duals. They topped Blackduck/Cass Lake/Bena 76-0, topped ranked Class B North Dakota School Lisbon 45-33 and Section 7AA power Hibbing 52-15. Sam Waln, Mitch Steffens, Jordan Rentz, Jared Wegscheid, Isaac Lustila, Tony Reurink and Jacob Ludovissie were all 3-0 at the Panther duals.

10. EDEN VALLEY-WATKINS EAGLES
The Eagles had a very strong showing as they opened their season at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Tourney with 168 points to earn second place and nine wrestlers placing in the top three. Jacob Forcier, Tyler Magedanz, Mitch Asfeld and Blaine Meirhofer all won championships. Earning third place were; Zach Blonigan, Cain Renner, Austin Peterson, Mike dowham and Brandon Walz. The next day they traveled to Litchfield to take on the field at the Dragon's invitational where they earned 104 points for fifth place. The Eagles had six place winners including a pair of seconds Jacob Forcier and Mike Dowham. Earning third place was Austin Peterson and three taking fourth place; Zach Blonigan, Dominic Donnay and Mitch Asfeld.

11. OTTERTAIL CENTRAL BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs had a very strong start with a pair of wins over Section 7A foes and rivals Pelican Rapids 53-27 and West Central Area 45-31. The Bulldogs had a very good tournament with 180 points to earn second place at the Fosston Alfred Olson Memorial Tournament. They had nine wrestlers place in the top four led by three championships: Zach Johnson, Zach Matthys and Brendan Hart. Greg Blum and Tyler Olson both earned second place and Dylan Schwartz, Nolan Koch and Kaleb Minten all earned third place and Anthony Henson took fourth place. The Bulldogs were a little short handed at the West Central Area "Grant County" Tourney as the earned seventh place with 82.5 points. Zach Johnson and Greg Blum both earned second and Zach Matthlys earned third place. Brendan Hart earned fourth place and Anthony Hintson, Kaleb Minten and Aaron Bengston all took fifth place.

12. ROYALTON ROYALS
The Royals topped Rocori to earn fifth place at the Foley Falcon duals and they dropped a pair of duals to a much improved Becker team 46-20 and to Class AA No.2 ranked Foley Falcons 52-6. Andrew Plumski was the lone Royal to go 3-0 at the duals in Foley. The Royals are still missing a couple of their key wrestlers with lingering injuries from the fall activities. The Royals earned eleventh place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Tourney with 73 points and three place winners in this fifteen team event. Andrew Plumski won their lone championship, Andy Poster earned third place and Mitch Lange earned fifth place.

MAT RATS TOP CLASS AAA TEAMS

1. SAINT MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS
The Knights are off to a very strong start with a pair of huge wins over Mississippi 8 Conference foes Big Lake 65-4 and Buffalo 64-0. The Knights also topped the field at the "Knights" invitational with 281 points and fourteen wrestlers placing in the top three including ten championships. Tommy Thorn, Cole Sladek, Jake Lillie, Parker Betts, Wayne Voss, Lucas martin, David Zachman, Ryan Stott, Mark Voss and Shawn Little all won championships. Lincoln Mallinger, Michael Lindquist, Michael Nerdahl and Ricky Briggs all earned third places. The Knights topped Section 7AAA foe Blaine 68-3 and Mississippi 8 Conference foe Zimmerman 64-9.

2. CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BLUE JACKETS
The Blue Jackets topped Mississippi 8 Conference foe Zimmerman 66-6 and a pair of AAA foes Lean and Mean White Bear Lake 36-30 and Moorhead 44-19. The Blue Jackets dropped a big Mississippi 8 Conference dual to No. 9AA ranked Monticello 32-23.

3. BRAINERD WARRIORS
The Warriors topped a very good field of teams at the Blue Earth Area " Dick Maher Invitational" with 170 points in this twelve team field of teams. The Warriors had nine wrestlers placing in the top five with a pair of championships by Tyler Kohlmeier and Mack Glasby. Earning second were Luke Boren and Casey Biever and a trio of thirds were earned by Jessen Franzen, Shane White and Matt Solid. Dan Babineau took fourth place and Jace Engelmann took fifth place. The Warriors won a big Central Lakes Conference dual over Fergus Falls 37-24. The Warriors earned seventh place with 99 points at their invitational the "Paul Bunyan" Tourney. They had seven wrestlers place in the top six led by Mack Glasby as he earned second place and Shane White and Jessen Franzen both earned fourth place. Dan Babineau and Bryton Mutz both earned fifth place and Tommy Schlosser and Casey Biever both took sixth place.

4. SAUK RAPIDS STORM
The Storm started their season like a whirl wind as they topped Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA foe Rocori 54-15 and AA Lean and Mean Staples-Motley 42-27. They Stormed their way to the team championship at the St. Paul Highland Park Invitational with 170 points and thirteen wrestlers placing in the top three. Winning championships were Erik (B. J.) Olson, Austin Walz and Stephen Bucholz and earning second were Mitch Mehrwerth, Tyler Diederich, Ryan Medlen, Chris Keske and Ryan Prueher. Earning third place were Caleb Studenski, Dalton Siemers, Patrick Keller and Charley Rudy. The Storm traveled to Willmar minus five starters and nearly pulled off two section wins, but came up a little short dropping a dual to Willmar 37-42 and to Bemidji 39-30.

5. ELK RIVER ELKS
The Elks topped rival and Section 7AAA foe Anoka 32-28. The Elks were missing seven starters in their event where they earned sixth place with 92.5 points and they had six place winners. Holtan Lubinski led the way with their only championship, Evan Caldon earned second place. Kyle Wieman earned third place, Jake Staffenhaven and Yong Yee both earned fourth place and Abe Williams took fifth place.

6. WILLMAR CARDINALS
The Cardinals dropped their opening dual to Central Lakes Conference rival Fergus Falls 49-22. They earned sixth place at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Tourney with 106 points. Alex Johannes and Nathaniel Swoyer both won championships and Coty Midhausen earned second place. Nate Mittag earned third place and Zach Morris and Colten Carlson both earned fourth places. The Cardinals came away with two huge Section 8AAA dual meet wins over Central Lakes Conference foe Sauk Rapids 42-37 and Bemidji 36-31. The Cardinals had a great tourney as they earned second place at their Willmar "Cardinal Classic" Invitational with 201 points and eleven placing in the top five. Alex Johannes, Coty Milhausen, Nathan Swoyer and Zach Lueders all won championships and Logan Walkow earned second place. Zach Morris and Taylor Neumann both earned third place, Colten Carlson, Martin Cabrera and Austin Miley all earned fourths and David Arnold took fifth place.

7. ST. CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES
The Eagles dropped their season opening dual to Central Lakes Conference foe Little Falls 42-26. The Eagles turned in a strong performance with 143 points to earn second place at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights" Tourney. They had nine wrestlers place in the top five with Mitch Bengtson winning the lone championship. Nam Nguyen, Grant Dullinger, Alex Lawwell and Grant Nehring all earned second place. Dylan Tilburg, Jared Morford and Brady Mehr all earned third place and Matt Braun took fifth place. The Eagles topped Central Lakes Conference foe Alexandria 48-35. The Eagles earned fourth place at the Big Lake "Hornet" Invitational with 155 points and eight wrestlers placing in the top five. Grant Dullinger, Mitch Bengtson and Nam Nguyen all won championships, Alex Lawwell and Markes Mehr earned second place. Matt Braun earned third place, Austin Rice earned fourth place and Jared Morford took fifth place. Mitch Bengtson broke the St. Cloud Apollo school record with his 144th career win.

8. ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS
The Tigers topped Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rival Rocori 45-28. They did earn fifth place at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights" Tourney with 105 points and nine wrestlers placing in the top five. Jesse Thompson and Henry Nistler led the way as they both earned second and Tommy O'Brien, Patrick Niehaus and Maurice Martin all earned third place. Tim Mueller earned fourth place and Bryant Amundson, Max Wirz and Brady Browwer all took fifth place. The TIgers topped their Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rival Rocori 45-28.

9. BEMIDJI LUMBERJACKS
The Lumberjacks started their season with a huge win over rival Deer River 51-18. They split a pair of duals to Section 8AAA foes; they topped Sauk Rapids 39-30 and lost to Willmar 36-31. The Lumberjacks earned tenth place with 74 points at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Tourney with four place winners. Jake Crosby earned third place, Brian Mass and Logan Crosby both earned fifth place and Alex Johnson took sixth place.

10. ALEXANDRIA CARDINALS
The Cardinals topped Central Lakes Conference foe Sartell 39-36 and they dropped a close one to Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA foe St. Cloud Apollo 48-35. The Cards earned seventh place at the Litchfield "Dragon" Invitational with 84 points and five place winners. Ross Carlson won their lone championship and Andy Bouressa and Trent Piepenburg both earned second place. Cole Ellison earned third place and Anthony Hubbard took fifth place. The Cardinals earned sixth place at the West Central Area "Grant County" Tourney with 88 points. They had three place winners including: Cole Ellison, Dillon Schauff and Andy Borousa earned second place and Trent Piepenburg earned fourth place.

11. ROCORI SPARTANS
The Spartans dropped their opening duals to Central Lakes Conference foe Sauk Rapids 54-15 and to Lean and Mean AA Staples-Motley 46-31. The Spartans dropped three duals at the Foley "Falcon" Duals Pierz 55-12, Paynesville 64-15 and Royalton 52-9. They dropped a Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA dual to St. Cloud Tech 45-28.

12. BUFFALO BISON
The Bison dropped their opener to Saint Michael-Albertville 64-0. They earned eighth place and with 48 points and four place winners at the Osseo tourney. Tanner Maus earned third place, Lucas Mork earned fourth place, and Gus Koppi and Jon Wirhala both took fifth place. The Bison dropped a Mississippi 8 Conference dual to Rogers 46-27.
